The beauty of a cactus: its flowers.

Cactus flowers are very striking, with colors and shapes that don’t go unnoticed. These cacti usually open their flowers first thing in the morning, and they last only a very short time. They have abundant spines, some straight and others hook-like. These spines serve as a defense mechanism. Cacti are capable of withstanding harsh environmental conditions; they are adapted to live with little water; there are numerous species; the rarer they are, the more striking they are; that is why they are called exotic.

I watched as the cactus formed a sort of crown with buds that later blossomed into beautiful, deep-yellow flowers. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take photos and share them with the community.
