Since photographing wildlife can be challenging—and many species are active only at night in our region—I decided to invest in trail cameras for my iNaturalist observations.

For citizen science work like iNaturalist, it's not about capturing one perfect shot; what really matters is accumulating observation records. And this setup is already paying off.

First success! 🎉

The video below is compiled from footage captured over two nights. I recorded a total of 4 foxes—all young ones. Based on the activity, I suspect there's an adult fox nearby with a den under one of the fallen trees scattered around the area (there are quite a few remnants from past storms).

Given that this location sees heavy tourist traffic during the day, the foxes likely rest in hiding spots or venture toward the more rugged terrain along the pond edges where visitors rarely tread.

Shooting with a night camera always looks a little mystical...

Yes Plus, it has an invisible light source, but the animals can see it clearly and come to investigate the camera.
