Chlieb náš každodenný - Our daily bread (photo exhibition)

Slovensko kultúrno umelecký spolok Hlas nádeje organized an photo exhibition Chlieb náš každodenný - Our daily bread by Michael Kotváš. As he said the idea for this came at the time when they were gathering old photographs. His goal was to try and recreate the everyday life and activities of our great-great-grandfathers.

I must give a lot of respect to all of the organizers because putting all of this together was not easy. Opening was followed by an traditional orchestra, several traditional songs, people were sitting on bales of hay, there was some traditional food like bread, which is then flavored with lard, ground red pepper, and salt. Not to mention prints, finding a way how to present them, and the most difficult part, how to find money to pay for it all :D

And i still didn't mention the process of taking the photos. I didn't manage to catch up and talk about it, but from experience it feels like organizing the shoot, getting all the costumes, finding locations and doing the shoot would take several days per photo.

Overall a nice experience and i was pleasantly surprised as i had no idea of what to expect.

And yes i am still in the Canon 5d classic phase. With the only lens i had for it Canon 85mm 1.8. For some weird reason i did have some number of photos (mostly wider ones) with some motion blur or maybe missed focus. For this last one i know what i did wrong. Old cameras are not so forgiving when it comes to how steady you are. And using new tech makes you forget about it. There was a reason why there was a rule of double your shutter speed in relation to focal length (or keep it steady and hold your breath) 😁

This is a great set of shots, I was about to ask what lens you used because I thought exactly an 85mm f/1.8. This lens is wonderful and is one of my favorites for street photography and portraits.

Nice event and nice shots @bil.prag friend! Have a great day.

i do like it. it is probably my second most used lens. till i got to full frame my most used was 18-35 sigma, but it does not work on full frame. 85mm 1.8 for canon is great for the money you can get it used.

It is perfect and accessible. I've been thinking about a 50mm 1.4 but these are much more expensive. Also a Tokina 11-16 f2.8 for Nikon for architectural photography 😃

my next one should be a 70-200 but on a new mount for mirrorless you need to sell a kidney to buy one. i don't have anything over 85, so maybe i will just go for an old one with an adapter. hoping the prices will drop for old mounts :D

Such a big event needs a lot of effort for it to succeed and it just happened. By the way those shots were beautifully taken with the precision of focusing on the main subject.
It's really hard to take shot from this kind of events specially within the crowd but you just did it. I know that you enjoyed the event while busy taking those shots.
