Христос Воскресе! Радост донесе! Happy Easter! 🌺
Easter in Serbia is a time of joy, tradition, and family values. As one of the most important Christian holiday, it brings families together to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. Here in our country and in the most countries of Balkan, people are saying: Hristos Voskrese! which means Christ is Risen! The traditional response to that is Vaistinu Voskrese! or Truly, He is Risen!
We gather usually on Good Friday to dye and decorate eggs — the first one is always painted in red, symbolizing the blood of Christ. We always keep that one egg as a 'čuvarkuća' — a guardian egg that stays in the house for good luck and protection until next Easter.
On Easter morning, the egg-tapping game begins! Everyone chooses a favorite egg and gently taps it against another’s to see whose egg stays uncracked the longest — it’s all in good fun, and children especially love it.
Church bells ring, homes are filled with laughter, the smell of baked bread and roasted meat fills the air, and everywhere you go, people greet each other with joyful words: Hristos Voskrese! ❤️ Srećan Uskrs!
The first two photos are mine eggs, I decorated them as beautifully as I know. And the third one is of a friend of mine. I was so impressed with her skill of decorating with bee wax that I had to take a picture and share it with you here. She is a real artist in this. °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
