A perfectly ordinary blog about perfectly ordinary icy droplets

(Edited)

There is not much to say here. Snow falls. It holds tightly to its graceful whiteness for as long as the sun allows it. And then it begins to melt slowly, but not completely. Just enough to form the first icy drops on the trees, and then it freezes again, so they can last a little longer, to delight us with their beauty and grace.

Just look at them,
as if they are dancing,
each one playing its own imagined game.

And I am sure,
yes, I am sure,
that they enjoy it.

Because I have not seen a single one pack up its things and leave for a place where it is always winter, somewhere it could outshine everything around it with its beauty and make that last a long time, an entire lifetime of an ice droplet. No, they stay right there for as long as the game lasts, accepting it just the way it is. They have fallen in love with the process itself.

As if they know it will all happen again next year,
so they patiently withdraw, melt away, and wait for the moment
to step back onto the stage
and shine once more.

If it seems to you that we are all the same,
you are mistaken,
look more closely.
To think that way is just as wrong as
saying that all people on planet Earth are alike.
Simply not true.

If you catch us while we exist,
come closer, don’t be afraid,
look through us,
sometimes we work like a kaleidoscope.
It's fun.
