Visit to the Community School Anthropological Museum "Luis Beltrán Prieto Figueroa" [ENG-ESP]

A few months ago I was visiting the Community School Anthropological Museum “Luis Beltrán Prieto Figueroa” which is located within an educational institution in the municipality of Libertador, Aragua state, this museum has become an Ancestral Cultural Heritage of the Municipality Libertador and is in charge of the students of the fifth year of high school since 2009, they are responsible year after year of maintenance and conditioning of the Museum, as well as receiving visitors and giving the tour serving as guides explaining everything we find inside the room.

The most repeated image inside the museum is that of the Venus of Tacarigua which was worshipped by the indigenous people who inhabited the Tacarigua Lake or Lake Valencia, located between the states of Aragua and Carabobo. Inside the museum you can see and learn about pieces that have been elaborated by the Tacarigua Indians and that were donated to the Liceo for their conservation.

This day I attended with some colleagues from the university and although we are in the same city I had no knowledge that it existed, I found it very interesting and I really liked that the fifth year students were prepared in a very organized way to attend the visit and to present each of the pieces, I also liked the pictures with representative images of the indigenous peoples.

Hace unos meses estuve conociendo el Museo Antropológico Escolar Comunitario “Luis Beltrán Prieto Figueroa” que se encuentra ubicado dentro de una institución educativa dentro del municipio Libertador del estado Aragua, este museo se ha convertido en Patrimonio Cultural Ancestral del Municipio Libertador y se encuentra cargo de los estudiantes de quinto año de bachillerato desde el año 2009, ellos son los encargados años tras año del mantenimiento y acondicionamiento del Museo, así como de recibir a los visitantes y dar el recorrido sirviendo de guías explicando todo lo que encontramos dentro de la habitación.

La imagen que más se repite dentro del Museo son de la Venus de Tacarigua el cual era adorada por los indios que habitaban en el Lago de Tacarigua o Lago de Valencia que está ubicado entre los estados Aragua y Carabobo. Dentro del museo se pueden observar y conocer piezas que han sido elaborados por los indios Tacariguas y que fueron donada al Liceo para su conservación.

Este día asistí con unos compañeros de la universidad y aunque estamos en la misma localidad no tenia el conocimiento de que existía, me pareció muy interesante y me gustó mucho que los estudiantes de quinto año se prepararán de una manera muy organizada para atender a la visita y dar a conocer cada una de las piezas, también me gustaron mucho las pinturas con imágenes representativas de los pueblos indígenas.
