Seize the Night: Embracing the Random in a World of Routine

My partner had himself checked due to some pain felt on the shoulder blade. After that, we hung out for a bit in the city center. On our way home, we happened to pass by Casino Filipino which was located within a hotel’s premises. We weren’t in a hurry to go home, so we decided to have a short reroute.

I thought I would just say hello to my friend’s sister who works in the casino and I thought of asking her a brief inquiry about something if she had the time. I remembered they also had free entertainment (live band) for their guests. So, I thought it was a good chance to stop by so we could also have a change of place or mood and relax a bit.

The casino is on the second floor of the hotel with a mini fountain by its entrance. There were several koi fish and lots of coins in the pond. I noticed that they had a photography contest and some works of local photographers were on display.

I particularly like these photographs as they capture the local or traditional way of life of the people in our country.

I also like this decoration with antique wooden chair and horse carriage at the back. Beyond this point, we could see the slot machines, table games, and bingo area; of course, taking pictures is prohibited within those sections.

I like the modern elegance of the interiors with subtle Filipino cultural details incorporated in their design. The walls were made to look like traditional houses with traditional sliding windows. Ambient lighting was provided so it was comfortable and had a pleasant atmosphere.

I asked one of the attendants but my friend’s sister was off duty that time so I wasn’t able to talk to her. There was a live band that played jazz and pop music and so I just enjoyed listening to the beautiful music they played. The mood was light, fun, and relaxing...

Before reaching the exit area, we stopped by at this part here called “Gourmet Walk,” nestled in the hotel’s lower lobby which features different restaurants offering different cuisines. I like the atmosphere as it made me feel like I was walking along the street that was filled with many food shops and colorful twinkling lights.

The ceiling is painted with white and blue to give it an image of the sky. The area has soft lights and is beautifully lit giving it an inviting atmosphere. I like the reflection of light on the smoothened cobblestone.

If you’re up for buffet with extensive international dish, then UNO restaurant is your pick. If you’re craving for Italian flavors, then you can try La Gondola restaurant. Tin Gow is the choice if you’d rather have Chinese cuisine. There’s a lot more to try…

The murals on the wall also caught my attention; they add more beauty and attractiveness to the surroundings.

For tourists who want to buy souvenir of Cebu City, they can also have a quick stop at this popular souvenir shop. Souvenir shirts, caps, dried mangoes, and such can be bought here.

I enjoyed the peaceful walk around this area and grateful for the random reroute so we could enjoy even just for a short time. For us, every random moment is special and worth cherishing.
