The Big Blue [WE:120]
We are back again with another installment of #weekend-engagement. This week's topics revolve around landscapes and being outdoors. I haven't had much if that in a long time. However, I took the excuse if going out of the house to go by the Costal Area of my hometown and take some photos.
Contrast of nature and city
I stepped out of the care and let myself be caressed by the gently and savory touch of the breeze coming from the sea. We are privileged to have a view like the one we have. The Gulf of Cariaco extends for miles. It starts in Cariaco and ends in Cumaná. I remember my high school years when this used to be the route to school. Then, the route was changed to one where you can't see the sea. Thay was sad, but it was the shortest route.
However, I get to see the sea very often. That's one of the perks of living here. Sunsets are also quite beautiful. But this isn't the time to talk about it. Blue is the colour of this entry.
There's a small boat as a dot in the big blue. On the other side the coast of the Araya Peninsula.
As you can see in the cover photo, there's a spot that sells see food. We call this mixes of seafood "Coctelitos" (like little cocktail). It has no alcohol but the mix of stuff in it packs a punch. They are served with lime juice and garnished such as onion, cilantro and other pickled vegetavles. There's other kiosks ahead where people sell fish. The name of this one is "La Esquina Caliente" (the hot corner). It is funny as it isn't located in a corner. It's just a bit of local humour. Th lady of the spot was kind enough to pose for the photo.
Speaking of photos, the word blue and staring at the sea reminds me of something. There's an old poem of the Cruz Salmerón Acosta. A poet who was born in the other coast. It is titled "Azul" (blue in Spanish). It makes a comparison all the blues you can see in this space. The mountains, sky and sea; of landscapes and dreams. The comparison ends with the eyes of his beloved Conchita. A woman he couldn't see again because he died of leprosy. Each time I'm standing form this side, I think about the fate of Salmerón. It must the one of the hardest things to endure. It's also said that this disease started by his hands. So I bet he could keep writing for long.
Breaking away from the sad footnote, I want to address that the sea has this power to fill you with energy. It's like the sound of the waves and the wind in your face carry the breath of primordial life. Like purpose for living and keep going. Just going to stare at the sea cleanses your mind of weariness. I should do it more often.
This blue makes all the sadness drift away. Like a boat pulled, bit by bit, then turned adrift in the middle of the sea, where it's influence can't reach the depths of my being.
Watching the sea, is like coming home. Anyone who lives near it, might understand this filling. I'm glad I took the time to go for the photos. I came back with the idea for the post and with my mood changed.
Thank you sea. Thank you for your calm and gentle touch.
I had to throw in another one

How nice that you decided to go out to look for that blue of the sea that is so beautiful, but you are used to see that you had forgotten how it makes you feel, when you mentioned the lady I had to go back to the cover to look, hahaha nice gesture.
Can you believe I have never eaten one of those cocktails, I prefer seafood chowder, I like them a lot, but I have years without eating them.
Going back to the blue of the sea, is it not possible to bathe there, is there no beach for bathers? @bertrayo
Yeah, we tend to take for granted these kind of details. But it's a nice thing to go back and recharge batteries with the sea.
Ha, ha, ha, ha. She wanted to sell me some of those cocktails, but I had no time for them. They are really good.
And people bathe there, but I wouldn't recommend it. Since a lot of sewage water ends up in that part. Also, people who love near the zone use it as restrooms when there's no water. So, not a nice place to bathe.
I already thought it was not a good place to swim because of the oil from the boats, not for the reasons you gave me, hahahahahahaha yours have more weight.
There are no piers there. So that oil is the smallest of problems.

You did the right thing by taking that break. It is ironic that we have so much blue here and yet we are buried in so much gray.
One would have to stay in the water and avoid mainland contact to keep the effect of that revitalizing primordial blue intact.
I think one can get seasick from being too mucho in the big blue. So I wouldn't want to be away from mainland for that.
favorite color. Coincidence? Maybe...
The sea, the one that looks blue in your photos, and that is elusive to me in these southern areas, where they say that the beaches are far from being like those of our Venezuelan coast, gives me a certain nostalgia.
That same nostalgia that appears when you take things for granted, you didn't know how to take advantage of having them so close...
When my youngest son asks me when he is going to know the sea, I always answer him, when we can return to Venezuela.
There's nothing like the beaches of Venezuela. We are privileged here in Sucre to have some of the best beaches in the country since they are not in open seas. The water is always there for us to see when we go somewhere. I have yet to take a time and go to take a dip in it.
I hope your kids get to go to the beach sometime soon. Even if it's just to watch it.
Even though I live in a place that is far from a large water body like this but I can relate to an extent. I love to stare at nature at a stretch..like a horizon, or grasslands. There is this internal coolness that erodes your mind. I am sure that is the same thing that happens when one encounters a water body,
That's the exact the thing. Like all cracks in the painting are gone and everything is printing once more. You put it in the vest words posible.
Very well, you got the gist..
Thank you.
You're welcome. It was a great depiction of the feeling.
Yay! 🤗

The way you described the food was mouthwatering! I can smell the sea and taste the cilantro and fish.
How tragic the story of the leper, no longer holding lover nor pen..
The sea can bring forth poetry and melancholy. Though my post was about green, it met the blue in a rather large hug as we exited the forest verdancy..
That's a nice kiss of nature right there.
And yeah, that poet has been famous for a long time just because of that poem. His other works are entwined with that idea of melancholy and blue. It is a great thing. Not so much about it's demise.
The food is great! The lady wanted to sell me some, but I had no money. 🤣
