A Source of Inspiration

There are times to not do any art and just watch someone else do it. After a long walk in the park as part of the birdwatching portion of a Congress held a few weeks ago in Cumana, @octocel sat down to make a very quick watercolor drawing of a rehearsal at the acoustical shell of the place.

The park became a place of rehearsals for the orchestra after their spot at the Journalists College was burnt down by some scoundrels. They use the place and this has actually give some life to the park as it needs to be guarded for many of the instruments and other goods from the State are stored there.

The day we went birdwatching, a portion of the orchestra was rehearsing. And as we got to the place of rest and waited for the last portion of the Congress to start, @octocel took out her sketch book and started to draw the scene. It was a quick sketch in pencil and then her watercolors came out. It is lovely to see she repurposed some eye-shadow boxes to keep her watercolors in place and in hand. Then she uses a water pen to hydrate and use them.

And there I stood watching in awe as the strokes of color made the sketch come to life. It is always a nice experience to be around while she makes one of her sketches or other forms of art.
