Pyrmont Bay Ferry Stop: Sydney, AUSTRALIA

I've mentioned it before, but one of the better ways to travel on public transport in Sydney (if it goes where you want to go...) is by Ferry around the harbour area. Crazily scenic views and a nice sort of slow leisurely ride away from the crazy ruckus of the road and rail. It is a touch more expensive than the train or bus... but for me, that slowness and quietness is more than worth it!

There is one group that I play with that often puts up on one side of the harbour, and the rehearsals on the other side... normally, it is just a single ferry stop away. But this last time I was working there, I was joined by my family in a different hotel in Darling Harbour, which mean that I was closer to the end of the Pyrmont ferry line.... which is cunningly called Pyrmont Bay Ferry Stop.

It was just a shot walk of about 5 minutes to the ferry wharf, and then hopping straight on for a touch longer than usual (2 stops!) to get to where I needed to go.

You can see the little wharf on the right there... backed by the towering buildings of the Sydney CBD. It was a crazily bright Australian day... and so my phone camera seems to have tried to adjust a bit... sort of unsuccessfully if you ask me!

Right next to the Wharf is the Sea Museum... definitely worth a visit with the littles ones if you are in the area, and they are interested in nautical stuff!

... and as a bonus, if you are here at the right times, there is the Endeavour sail training ship moored at the end of the wharf. These ships still look impressive, even when surrounded by more modern ships!

... and on the other side, a slightly less picturesque loading dock. I think that quite a few of these have been repurposed for artistic, function halls, or restaurants. I vaguely remember attending some sort of Binance function here at some point in the last year!

We - in 2010 - headed out to Manly and experienced the waves suddenly coming from the right. There are quite some youtube vids about that (when storming)

Oh yes, that is where the ocean comes in! I remember doing that with our family last year as well... a bit bumpy, but nothing too bad! It wasn't a storm though!
