Hello everyone after a long break again!!!

How are you since I haven't seen you? I hope you are in good health and in a good mood. I hope you are doing your best to be happy. Also, human relations are always complicated and difficult to keep up with, but what are they anyway when we have been through so much?

Putting the chitchat aside, I would like to tell you why I haven't been around for a while and show you a wonderful museum 😁

While I was trying to write these words, a little friend came and kneaded her biscuit on my lap and left. Of course, she didn't hesitate to leave her fur behind.

Anyways...

In these 2 weeks, and in the next 2 weeks in total at certain periods, I have participated and will participate in the Educational Tours in the Marmara and Aegean regions organised by the Association of Tourist Guides in order to fulfil a task that I hope I can invest in my future and the future of someone I love very much.

I am eager to share with you as much as possible all the places I have visited (and will visit) in 4 weeks in total. And I would like you to accompany me on this trip if you wish.

With that, let's start the sightseeing part of Topkapı Palace Museum, which is our first stop. Let me also give you some information that I think I should add. I will try not to overwhelm you with historical information, except for what I do not think is quite necessary. I hope I can manage it.

Hello everyone again from our first stop, Topkapi Palace Museum!

After the conquest of Constantinople, this great palace, built in 1478 by Mehmet the Conqueror of Constantinople, is now open to visitors as a museum. Although I have personally lived and continued my daily life around this palace located on the Eastern Roman Acropolis since I was a little girl, I am still impressed by it.

Spread over an area of approximately 700 thousand square metres, this palace was used as the administrative, educational, artistic and sultan's house of the Ottoman Empire starting with Fatih Sultan Mehmet until the middle of the 19th century. Then, exactly on April 3, 1924, the palace was turned into a museum by the order of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

I think that the museum, which has more areas to explore than before, especially with the Harem, which has recently been restored, although not very recently, would be far from having a certain story and integrity for someone who is not used to it or who is not accompanied by a guide.

Fortunately, this was not the case for me. I was both used to it and I was accompanied by Tolga, who is probably one of the most well-equipped guides. I admired his knowledge and language skills, he speaks Chinese! Woaw. I was really impressed, probably because it was a language that seemed quite difficult for me.

There is a fountain on the right side of the entrance gate you have seen above, and you enter inside, mesmerised by this fountain and the city wall gate.

Passing through the garden you have seen above, which is certainly not a short path but quite normal for a palace, you reach the museum section. The trees on this road are quite impressive, old but strong.

It was quite dark inside the museum. For me with astigmatism and night blindness, it was quite difficult to see and analyse. Of course, this does not mean that I did not try my best. Since the museum was a bit crowded and we were travelling in 2 groups of 100 people, we started a little differently. We had a whole Historical Peninsula of Istanbul to visit during the day! We had to be fast.

Our first stop was Harem, which should actually be our last stop.

You can find information about the ,Harem in Turkish in the photo above. (I will add the translation below as a text just in case.) I think you can get this information from the Muhteşem Yüzyıl series in a very entertaining way with a little bit of reality share with the dramas.

^{Harem, which means "sacred place where no one is allowed to enter" in Arabic and defines private family life in Muslim countries, is the private and forbidden place where the dynasty lived in Ottoman palaces. The Harem Department of Topkapı Palace was the living quarters of the sultan, the sultan-in-waiting, the sultan's wives, children, sisters and brothers, servant concubines and Karaağalar, the guardian of the Harem. The Enderun was an educational institution for the training of men to serve the palace and the state, while the Harem was an educational institution for the training of women. The inscription dated 1586 on the entrance gate from the second courtyard states that Murad III (1574-95) expanded the Harem. This gate was also called the Girls' Gate because it was used by high-ranking harem women. The first buildings in the Harem Department of Topkapı Palace were constructed in the 15th century during the reign of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror along the Golden Road. In the second half of the 16th century, a period of intensive construction began when Hürrem Sultan, the wife of Suleiman the Magnificent, moved from the Old Palace in Beyazıt to Topkapı Palace. The institutionalisation of the harem was completed during the reign of Murad III (1574-1595). In this period, the construction, which had previously developed around the stones open to the view, turned into closed courtyards. The chief architects of the period were Mimar Sinan and Davut Aga. Concubine wards, valide sultan's apartment, double baths, Hünkâr Sofası, Murad III Has Room and Şehzedegân Apartment were built in this period. Ahmed I's Has Room, Ahmed III's Has Room, Osman III's Pavilion, Selim III's Apartment, Mihrişah Sultan's Apartment, Çifte Kasırlar, Mâbeyn and Gözdeler Apartments were built after the fire of 1665, and the baroque and rococo decoration of the period was applied to the buildings. The Harem, which expanded with the additions made during the reign of each sultan, today has approximately 300 rooms, 9 baths, 2 mosques, 1 hospital, 1 laundry and many wards.}

I think you can visualise with the help of your imagination that the Harem actually consists of many sections, separated from each other like a house, with the pose that our handsome teacher unwittingly posed while telling us and the photo on the right. Actually, even I would get lost if I left the group.

Of course, there are certain sections in the Harem. I think it would be strange not to have them in such a complex place. Unfortunately, since we were trying to be fast, I couldn't take a clear photo of them all. But at least I have the content to give certain examples.

In Harem there are sections;

• Hünkâr Sofrası (Sultan's Table),
• Hünkâr Hamamı (Sultan's Turkish Bath),
• III. Murad Has Odası (Murad III Private Room),
• Çifte Kasırlar (Double Pavilions),
• Revaklı Avlu (Courtyard with Portico),
• Çubuk Odası (Rod Room),
• Baltacılar Ocağı (Axemen's Forge),
• Koğuş (Ward),
• Mescit (Prayer Room) and
• Valide Sultan Dairesi (Valide Sultan Apartment).

Of course, these sections are definitely not as simple as I have listed. They continue to be divided into rooms within themselves; such as the Karaagalar room, pantry and kitchen. Whether it is the tile work or the sections where eunuchs can enter and men are absolutely not allowed to enter, it is quite gaudy and complex. I have to admit that they are very pleasing to the eye, so I am attaching photos of these eye-catching rooms below.

Please forgive me for overwhelming you with too many photos, but this is because I want you to see the details of this wonderful palace.

In this section, you can understand very well how the eunuchs serve and how they are at "war" with the concubines. Since the whole Harem is close to each other and they are all in a race of ranks, this physical closeness creates quite a problem.

And of course, this rank system is tried to be felt quite clearly to those in the lower ranks. Besides, I think that these beauties engraved with gold should not be ignored.

After leaving this section, we headed towards the Holy Relics section on the right side of the entrance, the section we actually had to visit first.

It is not so difficult to say that these Holy Relics, which have been preserved and exhibited in a very dazzling way, are one of the crucial points of Topkapı Palace Museum. In fact, this section, which would not normally attract my attention anywhere else, managed to attract my attention in this palace.

In fact, there are about 50 pieces here, but it would be torture to show you all of them one by one. Of course, I have Nabi who will suffer this torture 🤣

After this, we entered a room in the kitchen where many rituals and cooking utensils, which had become the tradition of Turkish and Ottoman rulers, were exhibited. The sets exhibited in this room, which is part of the museum, were quite interesting.

Just below I am adding the piece that I like the most in this section of the museum. This piece reminded me of the set that was handed down from my grandmother to my mother and from her to me. Maybe that's why I like it so much.

I am very interested in old-style embroidery, especially in daily use sets. Of course, there is only one part that I think is negative; you cannot use a dishwasher.

Anyways.

These were a few of the 207 photos I took at Topkapı Palace Museum, which were of sufficient quality to share with you. Honestly, I would like to give more details, but since these details are very much related to history, I skip them in order not to bore you, otherwise the stories of screaming eunuchs and beautiful but witchy concubines are quite interesting.

You can also get these stories in series form from the Muhteşem Yüzyıl series I mentioned above. I emphasise once again that it is a series full of great dramas to pass the time.

Bu 2 haftada, ve önümüzdeki belli aralıklarla toplam 2 haftada, benim ve çok sevdiğim birisinin geleceğine yatırım yapabileceğimi umduğum bir görevi yerine getirebilmek için Turist Rehberleri Birliği bünyesinde gerçekleştirilen Marmara ve Ege bölgelerinde Eğitim Gezisi Turlarına katıldım ve katılacağım.

Sizinle, toplamda 4 haftada gezdiğim (ve gezeceğim) her yeri olabildiğince paylaşmak için can atıyorum. Ve bu gezide bana eşlik etmenizi istiyorum eğer siz de isterseniz.

Bununla birlikte izninizle ilk durağımız olan Topkapı Sarayı Müzesi'nin gezi kısmına başlayalım. Bir de eklemem gerektiğini düşündüğüm bir bilgi vereyim. Sizinle oldukça gerekli olduğunu düşünmediklerim hariç tarihi bilgilere boğmamaya çalışacağım. Umarım bunu başarabilirim.

İlk durağımız olan Topkapı Sarayı Müzesi'nden herkese tekrar merhaba!

İstanbul'un fethinden sonra, 1478 yılında İstanbul fatihi Fatih Sultan Mehmet tarafından yaptırılmış bu büyük saray günümüzde bir müze olarak ziyaretlere açık. Şahsen küçüklüğümden beri, Doğu Roma Akropolü'nde bulunan bu sarayın çevresinde yaşadığım ve günlük hayatımı sürdürmüş olduğum hâlde hâlâ etkilenmeye devam ediyorum.

Yaklaşık 700 bin metrekarelik alana yayılan bu saray, Fatih Sultan Mehmet ile birlikte başlayıp 19. yüzyılın ortalarına kadar Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nun idare, eğitim, sanat ve padişahın evi olarak kullanılıyor. Daha sonra ise, tam olarak 3 Nisan 1924'te saray, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk'ün emri ile müze hâline getiriliyor.

Özellikle de çok yakın olmasa da kısa zaman önce restorasyonu biten Harem ile birlikte eskisine göre keşfedilecek daha çok alana sahip olan müze, alışkın ya da yanında rehber olmayan birisi için belli bir hikâyeye ve bütünlüğe sahip olmaktan uzak bir hâle gelir diye düşünüyorum.

Neyse ki bu durum benim için böyle değildi. Hem alışkındım hem de yanımda büyük ihtimalle olabilecek en donanımlı rehberlerden biri olan Tolga hocamız vardı. Kendisinin bilgisine ve dil yeteneğine hayran kaldım, Tolga hoca Çince biliyor! Woaw. Benim için oldukça zor görünen bir dil olduğundan olsa gerek etkilendim gerçekten.

Yukarıda görmüş olduğunuz giriş kapısının hemen sağ tarafında kalan bir çeşme bulunuyor ve bu çeşme ve sur kapısı tarafından büyülenerek içeriye giriş yapıyorsunuz.

Yukarıda görmüş olduğunuz bahçeyi geçerek ki kısa bir yol değil kesinlikle fakat bir saray için oldukça normal, müze kısmına ulaşıyorsunuz. Bu yoldaki ağaçlar oldukça etkileyici, yaşlı ama sağlamlar.

Müzenin içi oldukça karanlıktı açıkçası. Astigmatı ve gece körlüğü olan ben için, görmek ve incelemek oldukça zordu. Tabii bu elimden geleni yapmadığım anlamına gelmiyor. Müze biraz kalabalık olduğundan ve bizde 100 kişilik 2 grup hâlinde dolaştığımızdan dolayı biraz farklı başladık. Gün içerisinde gezmemiz gereken koca bir İstanbul Tarihi Yarımadası vardı! Hızlı olmak zorundaydık.

İlk durağımız aslında son durağımız olması gereken Harem'di.

Harem ile ilgili bilgiyi yukarıdaki fotoğrafta bulabilirsiniz. (Her ihtimale karşı yazı olarak aşağıya ekleyeceğim.) Ki bence Muhteşem Yüzyıl dizinden bu bilgiyi dramalarla birlikte biraz gerçeklik payı olarak gayet eğlenceli bir şekilde edinebilirsiniz.

^{Arapça "herkesin girmesine izin verilmeyen kutsal yer" anlamına gelen, Müslüman ülkelerde mahrem aile yaşantısını tanımlayan Harem, Osmanlı saraylarında hanedanın yaşadığı özel ve yasaklanmış yerdir. Topkapı Sarayı Harem Dairesi, padişah, valide sultan, padişahın eşleri, çocukları, kız ve erkek kardeşleri ile hizmetli cariyelerin ve Harem'in koruyucusu Karaağaların yaşam alanıydı. Enderun, saray ve devlet hizmetinde bulunacak erkeklerin; Harem ise kadınların yetiştirilmesi için bir eğitim kurumu idi. II. Avlu'dan giriş kapısı üzerindeki 1586 tarihli kitabede III. Murad'ın (1574-95) Harem'i genişlettiği yazılıdır. Üst düzey harem kadınları kullandıkları için bu kapıya Kızlar Kapısı da denilmiştir. Topkapı Sarayı Harem Dairesi'ndeki ilk yapılar, 15. yüzyılda Fatih Sultan Mehmed döneminde Altın Yol kenarında inşa edilmiştir. 16. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında Kanuni Sultan Süleyman'in hasekisi Hürrem Sultan'ın Beyazıt taki Eski Saray'dan Topkapı Sarayı'na taşınması ile yoğun yapılaşma dönemi başlamıştır. Harem'in kurumlaşması, III. Murad (1574-1595) döneminde tamamlanmıştır. Bu dönemde daha önce manzaraya açık taşlıklar çevresinde gelişen yapılaşma, kapalı avlular şekline dönüşmüştür. Dönemin baş mimarları Mimar Sinan ve Davut Ağa'dır. Cariye koğuşları, valide sultan dairesi, çifte hamamlar, Hünkâr Sofası, III. Murad Has Odası ve Şehzedegân Dairesi bu dönemde yapılmıştır. I. Ahmed Has Odası, III. Ahmed Has Odası, III. Osman Köşkü,III. Selim Dairesi ve Mihrişah Sultan Dairesi, Çifte Kasırlar, Mâbeyn ve Gözdeler Daireleri 1665 yangınından sonra inşa edilmiş, yapılara dönemin modası barok ve rokoko dekorasyon uygulanmıştır. Her padişah döneminde yapılan eklemelerle genişleyen Harem'de günümüzde yaklaşık 300 oda, 9 hamam, 2 cami, 1 hastane, 1 çamaşırlık ve çok sayıda koğuş bulunmaktadır.}

Yakışıklı hocamızın bize anlatım yaparken farkında olmadan verdiği pozla ve sağdaki fotoğraf ile birlikte aslında Harem'in bir sürü bölümden oluşarak, ev gibi birbirinden ayrıldığını sanırım hayal gücünüzün yardımı ile canlandırabilirsiniz. Hatta gruptan ayrılsam ben bile kaybolurdum.

Harem'de bulunan belli bölümler var tabii ki. Bu kadar karmaşık bir yerde olmaması garip olurdu diye düşünüyorum. Ne yazık ki hızlı olmaya çalıştığımızdan dolayı hepsinin net bir fotoğrafını çekememişim. Ama en azından belli örnekler verebilecek içeriğe sahibim.

Harem'de;

Tabii bu bölümler kesinlikle benim saydığım kadar basit değiller. Kendi içlerinde odalara ayrılmaya devam ediyorlar; Karaağalar odası, kiler ve mutfak gibi. Gerek çini işlemeleri olsun gerekse hadımların girebileceği ve erkeklerin kesinlikle giremeyeceği bölümler olsun oldukça şatafatlı ve karmaşık. Göz doyurucu olduğunu kabul etmeliyim ki hemen aşağıya bu göz doyurucu odalarla ilgili fotoğrafları ekliyorum.

Sizi çok fazla fotoğrafa boğdum kusuruma bakmayın lütfen fakat bu harika sarayın detaylarını görmenizi istediğimden bu hep.

Bu kısımda hadımların nasıl hizmetler verdiklerini ve cariyeler ile nasıl "savaş" hâlinde olduklarını gayet iyi anlayabiliyorsunuz. Bütün Harem birbirine yakın ve tamamıyla rütbe yarışı hâlinde olduklarından bu fiziksel yakınlık oldukça sorun yaratıyor.

Bir de tabii bu rütbe sistemi alt rütbedekilere oldukça net bir şekilde hissettirilmeye çalışılıyor. Bunun yanında altınlarla işlenmiş bu güzellikleri yok saymamak gerektiğini düşünüyorum.

Bu bölümden çıktıktan sonra giriş kısmının sağ tarafında kalan Kutsal Emanetler bölümüne, aslında ilk ziyaret etmemiz gereken bölüme doğru ilerledik.

Oldukça göz kamaştırıcı bir şekilde korunması ve sergilenmesi sağlanmış bu Kutsal Emanetlerin, Topkapı Sarayı Müzesi'nin can alıcı noktalarından biri olduğunu söylemek o kadar da zor değil. Hatta normalde başka bir yerde dikkatimi kesinlikle çekmeyecek bu bölüm bu sarayda dikkatimi çekmeyi başardı.

Aslında burada 50'ye yakın parça bulunuyor fakat hepsini size teker teker göstermek bir işkence olur. Tabii bu işkenceyi çekecek olan bir Nabi'm var 🤣

Buradan sonra ise mutfakta, Türk ve Osmanlı yöneticilerinin geleneği hâline gelen bir sürü ritüel ve yemek araç gereçlerinin sergilendiği odaya girdik. Müzesinin bir parçası olan bu odanın içerisinde sergilenen setler oldukça ilgi çekiciydi.

Hemen aşağıya müze içerisinde, bu bölümde en çok hoşuma giden parçayı ekliyorum. Bu parça bana, anneannemden anneme ve ondan da bana kalan seti hatırlattı. Belki de bu yüzden bu kadar sevdim.

Eski tip işlemeler özellikle günlük kullanım setlerinde oldukça ilgimi çekiyor. Tabii bir tek negatif olduğunu düşündüğüm kısmı var; bulaşık makinesi kullanamıyorsunuz.

Topkapı Sarayı Müzesi'nde çektiğim 207 fotoğraftan sizinle paylaşmak için yeterli kalitede olan birkaç tanesi bu kadardı. Açıkçası daha fazla detay vermek isterdim fakat bu detaylar çok fazla tarih ile alâkalı olduğundan sizi sıkmamak için atlıyorum yoksa çığırtkan hadımların ve güzel ama cadı cariyelerin hikâyeleri oldukça ilgi çekici.

Bu hikâyeleri dizi şeklinde yukarıda bahsetmiş olduğum Muhteşem Yüzyıl dizisinden de edinebilirsiniz. Zaman geçirmek için harika dramalarla dolu bir dizi olduğunun bir kere daha altınız çizerim.
