On this journey, I have arrived in Mumbai

Hello dear friends at Hive! This is almost breaking news here, except for a few stories I posted on my Instagram @belen.guerragarcia

I am in Mumbai, dear friends! In India! I arrived in this beautiful, sacred land several days ago, to this land in a constant trance, I would say, between the earthly and the divine.

My first steps in India were in Kerala, then I was in Goa, and right now, in real time, I am in Mumbai, the city of dreams, as the locals call it.

I arrived at this place by train, a night train that left Goa at 7:00 p.m. two days ago, dropping me off at the Mumbai train station yesterday at 5:40 a.m. I took a taxi to my hotel, heading straight for the black and yellow cars as recommended to me in the other cities I had been to.

So far, India is a far cry from what I had read, seen, and heard. There are some realistic publications, but most are alarmist. By provoking reaction and interaction in the audience, I see that seriousness is increasingly being lost, leaving people adrift with little theoretical knowledge on the subject but with a big ego to misinform their followers. It's a shame.

By this I mean that for the moment (I don't want to jump to conclusions because I still have to visit the busiest cities), India is much friendlier than many sensationalist travelers say in their virtual spaces.

Today I'm sharing Mumbai with you, specifically The Gateway of India and some corners of Colaba, the most touristy area recommended for first-time visitors venturing into this subcontinent.

Yesterday, after arriving at the hotel and after my session with my psychologist, I went for a walk around the area. It caught my attention because there was a pattern in the streets that never stopped: organized and planned spaces with sidewalks, and others adrift, with a white line on the street marking the boundary between vehicles and pedestrians. A bit stressful, yes.

Both Colaba and the neighboring area, Ballard Estate, have an European feel, with picturesque and imposing buildings.

Here you can see the public library, security buildings, museums, and the Gateway of India, which is located in the port of Mumbai and was built in honor of the British monarchy just over 100 years ago.

Mumbai, also known as Bombay, is India's second largest city and boasts a financial and business sector that is as developed as its film industry, the famous world of Bollywood.

In recent years, there has been a focus on protecting the environment, reducing the use of plastic bottles and bags, and implementing environmental promotion and protection policies, which can be seen in posters and murals distributed, at least, in the Colaba and Ballard State areas.

That's all for today, friends. Follow me, and even if it's not very often, you'll learn more about my trip. I don't think I'll worry too much about the order this time, or maybe I'll go back to my exhaustive planning. I don't know yet.

I've linked a video I made about why I chose India over Thailand. I'll continue talking about this topic here on Hive and on my channel. The link is below in the Spanish section.

Thank you, as always, for being on the other side, reading and accompanying me.

I am so glad you are showcasing my city in such a beautiful manner. I am sure you will enjoy Mumbai's night life also. Evening time at Marine Drive is a wonderful vibe.
It's sad when people sitting in their homes who have never visited our Country start making assumptions and showcase negative things. You go to any part of India, you will be welcomed with love and warmth.
Enjoy your stay in my vibrant city. I am not in Mumbai right now, else I would have planned to meet up.

Great post! It would have been great to have a little more detail about the transportation you used to get around Colaba, to help other travelers planning a visit.

Nice!! Thanks for the suggestion! I walked all the way from my hotel in Ballard Satate to Colaba. There are buses (you have to wait for them), or taxis

The air quality seems surprisingly good in these photos. Glad you visited india and made your own judgement about it. Why did you start from Kerala haha?

Yes! I've found that the air is pretty much different heading the north of Mumbai. Kerala, because I wanted to go to the beach. And... I have to say that I love that place!

I'm from Kerala haha. Did you visit the cliff side beach in Varkala? I recently went there. The view is just fantastic!
