Between Chaos and Magic: My Arrival in the Pink City of Jaipur 🇮🇳 [Eng - Esp]

Between Chaos and Magic: My Arrival in the Pink City of Jaipur 🇮🇳
I flew from Mumbai to Jaipur—a flight I was later glad I’d paid for instead of taking the train.
Jaipur is located in the state of Rajasthan. It is, curiously enough, an area loved by many; and when I say loved, I mean that it is an extremely coveted, sought-after destination—a place people always return to. However, that wasn’t my experience: for me, Jaipur was pure chaos.

The Weight of the Journey
I have to say that arriving in this city nearly 20 days into my trip through India—but after three months of nonstop travel—influenced my perception. At that point, I was just praying to make it to Rishikesh, the city I’ve told you about before.
Jaipur is the famous Pink City and forms part of the Golden Triangle along with Agra and Delhi. It’s called that because the city center is made up of buildings in shades of red, orange, and pink. I was blessed to see a sunset from the city itself, almost by accident, and that was truly magical.
Travel tip: Although it’s called the “Pink City,” the hues vary depending on the sunlight, creating a warm atmosphere that seems straight out of another era.

Facing Reality Head-On
It’s not that I hate this city or this state; in fact, now that I’m telling you about the experience, I look back on it fondly. The thing is, I was exhausted, and this is where the real chaos began.
Up until Mumbai, I had been able to “manage” the areas I was moving through to some extent, but Jaipur confronted me with the reality of India and plunged me into it without warning.
The area around the airport, however, is very modern, clean, and orderly (at least that’s what you see as you pass by), something you don’t often see from any mode of transportation in the country. But, seeking the authentic experience, I decided to stay in the Old City, since I planned to visit the palaces and forts from there.

A Hotel Steeped in History
The hotel where I stayed was a luxurious old house that had been converted into a guesthouse. The owner showed me around the entire property and explained that the back section belonged to her, where she had decided to open the guesthouse.
That woman must have one of the best views in Jaipur: her terrace looks directly out onto Nahargarh Fort, which is a sight to behold no matter which way you look.
The weather: I had some cloudy days and a bit of rain, so I couldn’t make the most of the terrace, but the view of the fort was still pure beauty.
Dinner: This beautiful house has a space where they’ve set up tables for incredible dinners with a direct view of the fort.
An interesting detail: I think the family’s father, the original owner of the entire property, was in the army or the police. I came to this conclusion because of the many photos in the house where he’s seen wearing uniforms and military gear.

I don’t want to go on too much longer in this post. I feel that the Pink City’s heart and the experience at this house are powerful enough that they shouldn’t be overshadowed by the other beauties that Jaipur, amidst all its chaos, has to offer.
I hope you enjoyed it, friends!
Have you ever visited a place that overwhelmed you with chaos but that you now remember fondly? I’d love to hear from you in the comments.
