A mysterious sunset in Benirrás, Ibiza, Spain

This is how we experienced the day of the eclipse, attempting to watch the sunset in one of the island's most famous coves. A cove that is difficult to access, almost impossible without a car, a cove that I saw for the first time near the end of my second summer season in Ibiza.

The magical island, the island that deafens you with its many faces, the island that says yes to everything but when it has to show you a better way, it does so too. The master island. It is, and I'm not the one saying it, I was told so and today I can confirm it.

Un atardecer misterioso en Benirrás, Ibiza-España

Así se vivió el día del eclipse, en un intento de ver una puesta de sol en una de las calas más conocidas de la isla. Una cala de difícil acceso, casi imposible sin coche, una cala que vi por primera vez casi al finalizar mi segunda temporada de verano en Ibiza.

La isla mágica, la isla que ensordece con sus múltiples rostros, la isla que te dice que sí a todo pero que cuando tiene que mostrarte un camino mejor, también lo hace. La isla maestra. Lo es, y no lo digo yo, me lo dijeron y hoy puedo confirmarlo.

These images transport you to a dreamlike sunset where the sun was not visible, but only the colors it left behind as it passed through a mass of clouds in the distance, on a horizon without limits of place or time.

The orange and pink flashes colored the sky while highlighting the rock for which Benirrás has also become famous.

Ibiza and its energetic rocks and islets... There are several, all of them with a particular energy.

Estás imágenes trasladan a un atardecer de ensueño en donde el sol no se vio, sino que solamente se vieron los colores que dejó detrás de alguna masa de nube por la que pasó allá a lo lejos, en un horizonte sin límites de lugar ni tiempo.

Los destellos anaranjados y rosas colorearon el cielo al tiempo que destacaban esa roca por la que Benirrás también se ha hecho famosa.

Ibiza y sus rocas e islotes energéticos… Hay varias, todas ellas con una energía particular.

I was expecting drums that Sunday afternoon, but for some reason they weren't there. No drums, no rituals, just people gazing out at the sea, all waiting to see if the sunset would finally decide to share the sun with us.

Esperaba tambores esa tarde de domingo, pero por algún motivo no estuvieron. Ni tambores ni rituales, solo gente contemplando el mar, todos expectantes para ver si el atardecer decidiría finalmente compartirnos al astro rey.

They told me I would love Benirrás, and people are usually wrong about my tastes, but this time they were right.

Firstly, the journey there reveals a landscape that doesn't seem to be Ibiza, and secondly, once you arrive, it also feels like you're somewhere else, on another island.

The people are friendly and there are beach bars offering delicious fruit juices.
I loved the cove, and that mysterious sunset too.

Me dijeron que amaría Benirrás, y la gente viene equivocándose con mis gustos, pero esta vez acertaron.

Primero que el camino de ida muestra un paisaje que no parece ser Ibiza y segundo que una vez en el lugar, parece también como si estuvieras en otro lugar, en otra isla.

La gente se ve amable y hay chiringuitos que ofrecen deliciosos jugos de fruta.

La cala me encantó, aquel atardecer misterioso también.
