Visiting the Andrés Eloy Blanco and Student Squares (Eng - Esp)
Greetings friends, lovers of architecture and design, I wish you have an excellent weekend and that the month of July comes full of great blessings; abundance, prosperity, love and joy in every home, that the projects and goals that have not yet been fulfilled can be achieved in the remaining months of the year 2025, it is a pleasure to share a new architectural design of the city of Cumaná, which is known as the firstborn of the American continent and has outstanding buildings influenced by colonial design, also several squares that pay tribute to the iconic figures of the region and the country, today I share with you my visit to the Andrés Eloy Blanco Square and the El Estudiante Square, the first pays tribute to the Cumaná poet who held important political positions, in addition to his famous writings.
In the heart of the city is a house now converted into a museum, where this illustrious poet lived for several years. It is very close to Plaza Bolívar. Visiting this house is a wonderful experience, as you have the opportunity to see the utensils and furniture used by our ancestors. You can also see part of the original roof, made of reed, a very common material in contemporary homes. A few meters from the house-museum is Plaza Andrés Eloy Blanco, an important meeting point and landmark for locals. The square is surrounded by a school, a bakery popular for its delicious menu, a bus stop, and the cathedral.
Saludos amigos amantes de la arquitectura y el diseño deseo que tengan un excelente fin de semana y que el mes de julio venga cargado de grandes bendiciones; abundancia prosperidad, amor y alegría en cada hogar, que los proyectos y metas que aún no se han cumplido puedan lograrse en los meses restantes del año 2025, es un placer compartir un nuevo diseño arquitectónico de la ciudad de Cumaná, que es conocida como la primogénita del continente americano y cuenta con destacadas construcciones influenciadas por el diseño colonial, también varias plazas que rinden homenaje a los personajes icónicos de la región y el país, hoy les comparto mi visita a la plaza Andrés Eloy Blanco y la plaza El estudiante, la primera rinde homenaje al poeta cumanés quien ocupó importantes cargos políticos, además de sus famosos escritos.
En pleno centro de la ciudad se encuentra una casa hoy convertida en museo, donde este ilustre poeta vivió por varios años, queda muy cerca de la plaza Bolívar, visitar esta casa es una linda experiencia, pues tienes la oportunidad de conocer los utensilios y muebles que utilizaban nuestros antepasados también se aprecia en ella una parte del techo original, hecho de caña brava, un material muy común en las casas de la época contemporánea; a pocos metros de la casa museo se encuentra la plaza Andrés Eloy Blanco, que constituye un importante punto de encuentro y referencia para los habitantes, la plaza se encuentra rodeada por una escuela, una panadería muy concurrida por su delicioso menú, la parada de autobuses y la catedral.
The square has several concrete benches, walkways and trees that refresh the place, in the center there is a wall that previously had a bust of the poet on top, I was surprised not to see the bust this time, maybe they are repairing it, I got as close as I could to the wall and took several photographs, in them you can read several fragments of the writings of the poet Andrés Eloy, as well as his date of birth and death, the square is located in a strategic place that gives access to the city center and important places in the historic center, at the time of my visit there were not many people in the square, perhaps because it was the weekend, because on my previous visits I have coincided with a large group of people who meet at the place to rest, talk and enjoy the view of the surroundings.
La plaza cuenta con varios bancos de concreto, caminerías y árboles que refrescan el lugar, en el centro se encuentra un muro en el cual anteriormente había un busto del poeta en la parte superior, me sorprendió no ver el busto en esta oportunidad, tal vez lo están reparando, me acerqué lo más que pude al muro y tomé varias fotografías, en ellos se leen varios fragmentos de los escritos del poeta Andrés Eloy, así como su fecha de nacimiento y defunción, la plaza se ubica en un sitio estratégico que da acceso al centro de la ciudad e importantes lugares en el casco histórico, a la hora de mi visita no habían muchas personas en la plaza, quizás por ser fin de semana, porque en mis visitas anteriores he coincidido con un nutrido grupo de personas que se dan cita al lugar para descansar, conversar y disfrutar la vista del entorno.
The Plaza El Estudiante is located in the economic center of the city, on Mariño Street, very close to the Cumaná Plaza shopping center and the perimeter avenue. It stands out for its large and abundant trees. Like the first plaza, it also has concrete benches, walkways, a beautiful garden with grass and various ornamental plants. The gardens are delimited by a concrete wall that separates it from the benches and walkways.
On one side of the square there is a house with a nice design, the door is white, the upper part is made of brick, it has three windows and the roof corresponds to the gabled design, from the square you can see the back of the Ginan center and some of the stores like Movistar, located in this establishment, in the garden there was a small black bird, when taking the photo I did it very carefully to avoid it from going away, the trees are painted with a white stripe and the other red, the benches are located in a kind of roundabout and in the central part of the square there are walkways and a large space for the events that are held there, it is the first time that I visit this square and I liked the abundance of trees, walkways and concrete benches, the trees give shade to the square and it is perfect to rest from shopping and chat with friends while waiting for transportation.
La plaza el estudiante se encuentra en el centro económico de la ciudad, en la calle Mariño muy cerca del centro comercial Cumaná plaza y la avenida perimetral, destaca por sus grandes y abundantes árboles, al igual que la primera plaza también tiene bancos de concreto, caminerías, un hermoso jardín con gramas y variadas plantas ornamentales, los jardines están delimitados por un muro de concreto que lo separan de los bancos y caminerías.
A un lado de la plaza se encuentra una casa con un bonito diseño, la puerta es de color blanco, la parte superior es de ladrillo, tiene tres ventanas y el techo corresponde al diseño caída de dos aguas, desde la plaza se observa la parte posterior del centro Ginan y algunas de las tiendas como Movistar, ubicada en este establecimiento, en el jardín estaba un pequeño pájaro de color negro, al tomar la foto lo hice con mucho cuidado para evitar que se fuera, los árboles están pintados con una franja de color blanca y la otra de color rojo, los bancos se ubican en una especie de redoma y en la parte central de la plaza están las caminerías y un amplio espacio para los eventos que allí se realizan, es la primera vez que visito esta plaza y me gustó la abundancia de árboles, caminerías y bancos de concreto, los árboles dan sombra a la plaza y es perfecta para descansar de las compras y charlar con amigos mientras se espera el transporte.
At the back of the square are the largest trees and near them several bushes, there is also a very large tree with roots sticking out and on it they painted a nice mural that says "Sucre I love you", it is yellow with blue, it has several green, red and yellow circles, which form trees, moving towards the front you can see the posts with the light bulbs, the benches and walkways that separate the gardens, visiting this square was very exciting, because I did not know it and I was able to talk for a while under its leafy trees with my friend.
En la parte posterior de la plaza se ubican los árboles más grandes y cerca de ellos varios arbustos, también hay un árbol muy grande cuyas raíces sobresalen y en él pintaron un lindo mural que dice "Sucre te quiero", es de color amarillo con azul, tiene varios círculos verde, rojo y amarillo, los cuales forman árboles, avanzando hacia la parte delantera se ven los postes con los bombillos, los bancos y caminerías que separan los jardines, visitar esta plaza fue muy emocionante, pues no la conocía y pude conversar un rato debajo de sus frondosos árboles con mi amiga.
