Sunset walk along Cacique Maraguey Avenue, Caigüire sector (Eng -Esp)
Hello, fellow travelers around the world! It's a pleasure to greet you and wish you an excellent and blessed weekend. These past few days have been very hot, although it has rained several times. Perhaps because we are located in a tropical zone with an extensive coastline, the heat predominates in the region. Taking advantage of a visit to the Caigüire sector, located on Carúpano Avenue, I left home early to run errands and have some free time to explore the coastal area. My son and I headed to the aforementioned sector, and by 5:30 in the afternoon we had finished our errands. We visited a friend, and on the way back we stopped in front of La Gaviota, a seafood processing company. Very close by is the Malecón Cinta Costera seawall.
From that point, we began our walk to the Los Mangles sector. The view of the beach at this time of day is truly beautiful, as is Cacique Maraguey Avenue (formerly known as Cristóbal Colón Avenue). It was a leisurely walk, allowing us to observe the scenery and explore this area of the city. It was the first time we had walked along this main road. The landscapes of the hill in the Caigüire sector are breathtaking, and the view of the beach is also incredible, becoming even more beautiful at sunset. The idea of the walk was to relax and also get to know this part of the city. My friend suggested we go in the afternoon along the beach or the median strip of the avenue. We did most of the walk from the median, where we could appreciate the different landscapes: the beach on one side and the hill on the other. As we continued along the path, we encountered several residential complexes, walkways along the beach, and a beautiful view of the sky at sunset.
Hola, hola amigos viajeros en todo el mundo es un placer saludarles, deseando que tengan un excelente y bendecido fin de semana, estos días han sido de mucho calor, aunque ha llovido varias veces, tal vez por estar ubicados en una zona tropical y con una extensa costa marina, el calor predomina en la región, aprovechando una visita al sector Caigüire, ubicado en la avenida Carúpano, salí temprano de casa para realizar las diligencias y tener así tiempo libre para recorrer la zona costera, en compañía de mi hijo nos dirigimos al mencionado sector, ya a las 5:30 de la tarde habíamos terminado las diligencias; visitamos a una amiga y de vuelta nos quedamos frente a la empresa la Gaviota, que procesa productos del mar, muy cerca de esta se ubica el muro del Malecón Cinta Costera.
Desde ese punto iniciamos nuestra caminata hasta el sector los Mangles, la vista de la playa a esta hora es realmente muy bonita al igual que la avenida Cacique Maraguey (anteriormente denominada avenida Cristóbal Colón), fue una caminata con pausa, que nos permitió observar el paisaje y explorar esta zona de la ciudad, es la primera vez que caminamos por esta arteria vial, los paisajes del cerro en el sector Caigüire son asombrosos, la vista de la playa también es increíble y con el ocaso del sol, se ven aún más bonitos; la idea de la caminata era relajarnos y también conocer esta zona de la ciudad, mi amiga nos sugirió ir en la tarde por la orilla de la playa o la isla de la avenida, desde la isla hicimos gran parte de la caminata y se aprecian los diferentes paisajes, a un lado la playa y al otro el cerro, avanzando en el trayecto, se encuentran varios conjuntos residenciales, las caminerías al lado de la playa y una hermosa vista del cielo al atardecer.
We stopped in front of the La Inmaculada school to admire the hill. From there, you can see the avenue, the cross streets leading to the Caigüire sector, and some colonial-style houses. One of them, located on the corner, is blue with a tiled roof. The hill is an important part of the landscape, and several communities are located on its lower and middle slopes. It's known as Sugarloaf Hill and is distinguished by its characteristic yellow color, with patches of brown, black, and in some cases, green. Then we had a beautiful view of Cacique Maraguey Avenue, the beach, and some buildings in the distance. At this time, the sun was beginning to set, and I must say, the view is one of my favorites.
Sunset is my favorite time of day to see, because of the beautiful colors that appear in the sky. After walking several meters around the island, we took the beach path. To our surprise, it has several walkways and safety walls between the beach and the avenue. At this time, there were several people exercising, jogging, and some pets strolling around, enjoying the beautiful sunset and the evening breeze.
Hicimos una parada al frente del centro educativo la Inmaculada, para observar el cerro, desde aquí se se aprecia la avenida, las transversales que conducen al sector Caigüire y algunas casas con diseño colonial, una se encuentra ubicada en la esquina, es de color azul y el techo está cubierto con tejas, el cerro forma parte importante del relieve, varias comunidades se ubican en la parte baja y mediana del cerro, se le conoce como cerro pan de azúcar y destaca por su característico color amarillo, con manchas de color marrón negro y en algunos casos verde, luego tenemos una hermosa vista de la avenida Cacique Maraguey, la playa y algunos edificios al final, a esta hora el sol empezaba a ocultarse y debo decir que la vista es una de mis favoritas.
El atardecer, es la parte del día que más me gusta ver, por los hermosos colores que aparecen en el cielo, luego de caminar varios metros por la isla tomamos el sendero de la playa, para nuestra sorpresa cuenta con varias caminerías y muros de seguridad entre la playa y la avenida, a esta hora habían varias personas haciendo ejercicios, caminatas trotando y algunas mascotas paseando disfrutando el hermoso atardecer y la brisa vespertina.
Continuing our walk, we strolled along, observing the beach and some buildings located on the other side of the avenue. Among them was a brick-colored building called La Ranchería, notable for its triangular roof, numerous windows, and surrounding palm trees. A few meters away was another striking building, seemingly inspired by Oriental architecture. It was light beige with a blue roof and triangular-topped towers resembling bell towers. In the background, a partial view of Caigüire Hill could be seen.
Then, a panoramic view of the sunset sky, the beach with the sun setting, and a striking mural that appeared to depict weights or gears decorating a long wall. This area is home to residential complexes, commercial establishments, health centers, and other businesses. I found this mural interesting for its colors and the sequence of the pieces, which added a striking element to the avenue. The sunset was very beautiful and the colors in the sky were spectacular, a combination of pink, orange and yellow tones, adorned the outer space, after observing this beautiful mural we sat on the edge of the beach to enjoy the cool breeze and the colors in the sky as the sun went down.
Continuando con la caminata, avanzamos a paso lento para observar la playa y algunas construcciones ubicadas al otro lado de la avenida, entre ellas una de color ladrillo llamada la Ranchería, destaca por su techo triangular la muchas ventanas y palmeras alrededor, a pocos metros se encuentra otro edificio llamativo al parecer de inspiración Oriental es de color beige claro, el techo azul y torres con terminación triangular similares a un campanario, al fondo de estas se aprecia una vista parcial del cerro de Caigüire.
Luego una panorámica del cielo al atardecer, la orilla de la playa con el sol ocultándose y un llamativo mural que al parecer son pesas o engranajes, las cuales decoran una larga pared, en este sector convergen conjuntos residenciales, establecimientos comerciales, centros de salud, entre otros, este mural me pareció interesante por sus colores y secuencia de las piezas, que agregan un elemento llamativo a la avenida; el atardecer fue muy bonito y los colores en el cielo espectaculares, una combinación de tonos rosa, naranja y amarillo, adornaron el espacio sideral, luego de observar este hermoso mural nos sentamos en la orilla de la playa a disfrutar la fresca brisa y los colores en el cielo mientras el sol se iba apagando.

i love how the sunset painted the sky over the beach, turning the whole walk into a quiet masterpiece. Your description of the hill and sea side reminded me of the coastal evenings back home where the breeze feels like a soft accountant's ledger. The way the light danced on the water made the whole path feel like a beahcside gallery, something i wish i could capture for my tax records :)
