Sunset walk along Cacique Maragüey Avenue (Eng - Esp)
Cacique Maragüey Avenue, located on the coastal strip of Cumaná, the capital of Sucre state, boasts important destinations and ideal spaces to visit with family and friends or enjoy a beautiful sunset by the sea. These include historical and cultural monuments, boardwalks, recreational areas, a lookout point, a beach soccer field, an amphitheater, as well as residential complexes, hotels, tennis and paddle tennis courts, a shopping center, and other services that make it one of the most popular and bustling avenues.
Furthermore, its location on the outskirts of the city makes it one of the most frequented due to its excellent location and numerous attractions. In fact, many recreational and cultural events are held on this avenue, taking advantage of its various structures and recreational spaces, which offer a beautiful view of the seascape. After running several errands in an area far from the city, on our way back we passed by the aforementioned avenue and decided to stop for a walk and stretch our legs. I took advantage of this break to explore some of the sights along the Malecón. Our first stop was the Monument to the Fifth Anniversary of Cumaná, and then we continued to the next monument, the Monument to the Monk and the Indian. We spent about 10 minutes at each and then kept walking until we reached the amphitheater. During our stroll, I was able to admire the sunset and a beautiful mural located in a residential complex. It depicts various marine species; it was the first time I had seen it, and I was amazed. I have walked along this avenue several times, but, to be honest, my explorations have focused mainly on the coast and very little on the residential area. This time, we set out to explore both sides to stretch our legs and admire the beautiful scenery that this part of the city, bathed by the Caribbean Sea, offers.
La Avenida Cacique Maragüey, ubicada en la franja costera de Cumaná, capital del estado Sucre, cuenta con importantes destinos y espacios ideales para visitar con familiares y amigos o disfrutar de una hermosa puesta de sol junto al mar. Entre ellos se incluyen monumentos históricos y culturales, paseos marítimos, áreas recreativas, un mirador, una cancha de fútbol playa, un anfiteatro, así como complejos residenciales, hoteles, canchas de tenis y pádel, un centro comercial y otras comodidades que la convierten en una de las avenidas más populares y concurridas.
Además, su ubicación en el perímetro de la ciudad la convierte en una de las más transitadas debido a su excelente ubicación y sus numerosos atractivos. Después de hacer varios recados en una zona alejada de la ciudad, de regreso pasamos por la mencionada avenida y decidimos detenernos a caminar y estirar las piernas. Aproveché este descanso para explorar algunos de los lugares de interés a lo largo de la franja costera. Nuestra primera parada fue en el Monumento a los 500 Años de Cumaná, y luego continuamos hacia el siguiente monumento, el del Monje y el Indio. Pasamos unos 10 minutos en cada uno y luego seguimos caminando hasta llegar al anfiteatro. Durante nuestro paseo, pude ver parte del atardecer y un hermoso mural ubicado en un complejo residencial. Representa diversas especies marinas; era la primera vez que lo veía y me sorprendió. He pasado por esta avenida varias veces, pero siendo honesta, mis recorridos se han centrado en la franja costera y muy poco en la zona residencial. When we arrived at the amphitheater, we walked through the outdoor areas. I loved the view. This space also boasts an excellent location very close to the sea. We stayed there for several minutes enjoying the beach breeze 🏖️ and the sunset view, sitting on the benches along the walkway. From this vantage point, you can feel a strong breeze and a bit of a chill—perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature.
As always, the sunset gifted us with its beautiful colors. As the hours passed, the waves grew a little stronger, and the water crashed abruptly against the rocks. I really enjoyed this view because a kind of mist formed, which occasionally fell on my skin. The contact of the water with the rocks, moved by the wind, created a beautiful and pleasant sight. Observing it closely was very relaxing. I also saw some fish and crabs trying to hide among the rocks, but the crashing water forced them to come out or move to the outer edges, where the water couldn't reach them, thus avoiding being swept away. To get a closer look at this beautiful spectacle, we decided to walk as close as possible to the rocks, being very careful not to disturb these curious, fast-moving creatures. I tried to take pictures, but I only managed to record a short five-second video, where you can see the agility these charming animals have as they move among the rocks and water. They are also masters of camouflage. At one point during the walk, we thought they had disappeared, but they were back. which was camouflaged among the rocks very close to us, we continued our walk until we reached the beach soccer field.
Cuando llegamos al anfiteatro avanzamos por las áreas exteriores, la vista me encantó, este espacio también cuenta con una excelente ubicación muy cerca del mar, allí nos quedamos varios minutos disfrutando la brisa de la playa 🏖️ la vista del atardecer, sentados en los bancos de la caminería, desde este punto se siente la brisa fuerte y un poco de frío perfecto para relajarse disfrutar el contacto con la naturaleza.
El atardecer como siempre nos regaló sus hermosos colores, a medida que avanzaban las horas, el oleaje se hacía un poco más fuerte y el agua chocaba abruptamente con las rocas, esta vista me gustó, mucho porque se forma una especie de llovizna, que en ocasiones caía en la piel el contacto del agua con La roca al ser movida por el viento crea una hermosa y agradable vista, observarla detenidamente es muy relajante, pude ver también algunos peces y cangrejos intentando esconderse en las piedras, pero el agua al chocar con estas lo obligaba a salir o ubicarse en la parte exterior o donde no llegara el agua y así evitar que los llevara hacia otro lugar, para ver más de cerca este hermoso espectáculo, decidimos caminar lo más cercano posible a las piedras, con mucho cuidado para no molestar a estos curiosos amigos que se mueven rápidamente, intenté tomar fotos y solo alcancé a grabar un pequeño vídeo de cinco segundos, donde se aprecia la agilidad que tienen estos simpáticos animales para moverse entre las rocas y el agua, además son unos maestros del camuflaje, en un tramo del recorrido pensamos que se había ido y resultó que estaba camuflado entre las rocas muy cerca de nosotros, seguimos nuestra caminata hasta llegar a la cancha de fútbol playa.
From this court, we headed towards the viewpoint that offers a spectacular view of the sunset. You can see several walls, along with a heart-shaped swing set. In the next photograph, we see murals located in a residential complex where you can see various marine animals, such as sharks, dolphins, and whales swimming in a vast blue sea. There are also several jellyfish and a friendly dolphin making faces. Then, a large whale swims in the immensity of the ocean. In this mural, there are some stains, but the figure of the whale is still visible.
Next, we have a beautiful pink and brown jellyfish, and finally, a photograph with two jellyfish. From this mural, the jellyfish are some of my favorites; the colors look great and stand out against the blue background that represents the ocean. The entire mural covers quite a long wall. I wanted to take a complete photograph, but there were several people passing by, and the ones I took only show certain parts of the mural. Therefore, the best option was to photograph each animal separately. At the top of the lookout point, we watched the sunset again. A gentle breeze stirred the waves, and as dusk fell, we descended and continued our walk home. Visiting and exploring this avenue was fun; we hadn't planned to visit at that time, and it was an excellent decision. There are spontaneous excursions and walks that turn out to be more interesting, relaxing, and fun than planned ones. I think the element of surprise is essential and makes them unique and enjoyable.
Desde la cancha, nos dirigimos hacia el mirador que ofrece una vista espectacular de la puesta de sol. Se pueden ver varias muros, junto con un columpio en forma de corazón.
