My walk along Cacique Maragüey Boulevard, a tribute to the great chief of Chiribichí (Eng - Esp)
Continuing my tour along Cacique Maragüey Avenue, this time we move towards the boulevard of the same name. It begins very near the passenger terminal, in the El Dique sector, and as its name indicates, it gives its name to this long avenue, which runs from the monument of the same name to the Los Mangles sector. The monument consists of two columns where the name of the cacique is inscribed. According to a resident, he was an indigenous Cumanagoto warrior chief, settled in what is now the territory of Santa Fe (in the Chiribichí River area). He defended his tribe by leading the first indigenous uprising against the colonizers. In honor of his bravery, strength, and resistance, this avenue was named after him, and a monument was erected at the entrance to the avenue in the Cumaná-Paria direction. The monument features elements typical of the coastal region, such as fish and waves, symbolizing the sea. It is surrounded by palm trees and plants that adorn this beautiful space, which extends for approximately one kilometer. One kilometer beyond the monument are concrete benches and walkways, decorated with brick triangles, as well as a small garden and several palm trees along the grounds.
The monument consists of a blue, gray, and white rectangle with waves symbolizing ocean waves. At the top is another gray rectangle with the phrase I ♥️ Cumaná (a slogan frequently used in various recreational spaces and main avenues of the city by the foundation responsible for their cleaning and maintenance). Above this rectangle are two vertical columns bearing the name Avenida Cacique Maragüey. In front, there is a flat staircase made of colorful rectangles. From the center, two concrete walkways allow passage through the area without stepping on the gardens, which, due to the season, have few plants. In front of the walkways is a concrete floor with green patterns. Beyond this is a garden bordered by bricks, a palm tree, and several ornamental plants beside the monument. There is also a sculpture of a beautiful blue fish on a concrete slab, its scales resembling clouds, surrounded by several ornamental plants. A large palm tree, of which there are several specimens on the avenue, then we see in detail the side of the mural of the monument, a wall painted in the same way as the front and the column where the name of the chief is located; there is a flower-shaped planter, but due to the drought period there are few plants, only those that withstand the climate and warm temperatures remain.
Continuando Mi recorrido por la avenida Cacique Maragüey, en esta ocasión avanzamos hacia el bulevar homónimo, este inicia muy cerca del terminal de pasajeros, en el sector y el Dique y como su nombre lo indica da nombre a esta larga avenida, que va desde el monumento homónimo, hasta el sector los Mangles, el monumento consta de dos columnas donde se lee el nombre de cacique, quien según la información de un residente, fue un indígena y jefe guerrero Cumanagoto, asentado en el actual territorio de santa Fe (en el área del río Chiribichí), el cual defendió a su tribu al liderar la primera sublevación indígena contra los colonizadores, en honor a su valentía, fortaleza y resistencia se denominó esta avenida con su nombre y se erigió un monumento en la entrada de la avenida en el sentido Cumaná- Paria, en el cual se aprecian elementos propios de la región costera, como peces y olas, que simbolizan el mar, está rodeado con palmeras y plantas que adornan este lindo espacio, tiene una extensión de aproximadamente un kilómetro, a continuación del monumento hay bancos de concreto y caminerías, decoradas con triángulos de ladrillo, también un pequeño jardín y varias palmeras a lo largo del terreno.
El monumento consta de un rectángulo en color azul gris y blanco, con ondas que simbolizan las olas del mar, en la parte superior tiene otro rectángulo de color gris con la frase Yo ♥️ Cumaná (un slogan muy usado en los diferentes espacios recreativos y principales avenidas de la ciudad, por la fundación encargada de la limpieza y mantenimiento de los mismos), encima de este rectángulo hay dos columnas verticales donde se lee el nombre *Avenida Cacique Maragüey *, en la parte frontal hay una escalera plana formada por rectángulos coloridos, desde el centro se ubican dos caminerías de concreto para desplazarse por esta zona sin pisar los jardines, que por cierto debido a la temporada, tiene pocas plantas, al frente de la caminería se ubica un piso de concreto con figuras en color verde, luego hay un jardín adornado con ladrillos en los bordes, una palmera y al lado del monumento varias plantas ornamentales, también se encuentra la escultura de un hermoso pez en una losa de concreto, es de color azul, se observan sus escamas en forma de nube y a continuación varias plantas ornamentales, también una gran palmera, de la cual hay varios ejemplares en la avenida, luego vemos en detalle el lateral del mural del monumento, un muro pintado de la misma forma que el delantero y se aprecia la columna donde está el nombre del cacique; hay una jardinera en forma de flor, pero debido al período de sequía hay pocas plantas, solo permanecen aquellas que resisten el clima y temperaturas cálidas.
Next, you can see part of the avenue, the palm trees that adorn it, several residential complexes, offices, houses, bougainvillea plants, and the beige concrete walkway. In the following view, you can see part of the garden, the palm trees, and the boulevard leading to the Marina Plaza shopping center. Along the way, we saw several Ixora plants, and very close to the shopping center, there is a palm tree in a circular planter surrounded by small plants. The walkway extends to the end of the boulevard.
In the next photograph, you can see the sunset, part of the garden, and in this area, the ground is concrete with terracotta tiles. There are shrubs, ornamental plants, and some buildings. Moving along the front of the shopping center, you'll find other palm trees planted in a straight line. To the right of the shopping center is the tennis court, and as evening falls, a beautiful landscape unfolds, blending the urban with the natural. This view is one of my favorites because of the beautiful brushstrokes in the sky.
A continuación, se ve parte de la avenida, las palmeras que la adornan, varios conjuntos residenciales, oficinas, casas, también plantas de Bugambilias y la caminería de concreto en color beige, en la siguiente vista se aprecia parte del jardín las palmeras y la línea del bulevar hacia el centro comercial Marina Plaza, en el trayecto vimos varias plantas Ixora, y muy cerca del centro comercial se ubica una palmera en una jardinera circular rodeada por pequeñas plantas, la caminería se extiende hasta el final del bulevar.
En la siguiente fotografía, se observa el atardecer, parte del jardín y en esta zona el piso es de concreto con terracota, hay arbustos, plantas ornamentales y algunos edificios, avanzando por el frente del centro comercial, se encuentran otras palmeras ubicadas en línea recta, al lado derecho del centro comercial se ubica la cancha de tenis y con la caída de la tarde un hermoso paisaje que mezcla lo urbano con lo natural, esta vista es una de mis favoritas, por las hermosas pinceladas en el cielo.
While walking along the boulevard, my son and I stopped to take several pictures of the sunset. The view, though it may sound repetitive, is very beautiful, and the reflection of the sun creates a lovely contrast with the road and the boulevard. The walkways are designed to provide a pedestrian area and prevent people from stepping on the plants that adorn this space. In the first section, near the monument, the walkways are made of concrete with colored stripes. Further along, in the second section, they are made of concrete and terracotta. Continuing from the tennis court, we arrived at the recently inaugurated Hernán Marín Amphitheater, which I will tell you about another time. The walk along this boulevard was very pleasant. We went in the afternoon, and the breeze in this area is strong and fresh. The view of the landscape is beautiful. Although it is a small boulevard, it has great historical importance, as it pays homage to the indigenous population that inhabited the eastern region and resisted the colonizers. After our walk along the boulevard, we went to the bus stop located in front of McDonald's to catch the bus.
Mientras hacía el recorrido, con mi hijo nos detuvimos para tomar varias fotografías del atardecer, la vista aunque suene repetitivo, es muy bonita y el reflejo del sol crea un lindo contraste con la carretera y el bulevar, las caminerías tienen como objetivo brindar un área para caminar y así evitar pisar las plantas que adornan este espacio, en la primera área cerca del monumento, las caminerías son de concreto con franjas de colores, adelante en el segundo tramo, tienen concreto y terracota, avanzando desde la cancha de tenis llegamos al recién inaugurado anfiteatro Hernán Marín, del cual les hablaré en otra oportunidad, el recorrido por este Bulevar fue muy agradable, fuimos en horas de la tarde la brisa en esta zona es fuerte y fresca, la vista del paisaje es hermosa, aunque es un bulevar pequeño, tiene una gran importancia histórica, pues rinde homenaje a la población indígena que habitó la región oriental y enfrentó a los colonizadores, luego de nuestro recorrido por el bulevar, nos dirigimos a la parada que se ubica al frente de McDonald's para tomar el transporte.
