My tour of Gualberto Ibarreto Boulevard, getting to know its new look (Eng - Esp)
Hello fellow travelers! It's a pleasure to greet you and wish you a wonderful day with your loved ones. We're already in March, and the heat has intensified in the city, making it the perfect time to visit the beach, relax, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. This time, I'm sharing my visit to the Gualberto Ibarreto Boulevard, which was built in 2020 but reopened on December 10th of last year with a different and colorful style. This new look includes new structures and a complete redesign of the walkways.
The boulevard is located at the El Peñón roundabout on the Cumaná-Carúpano national highway, a few meters from the tollbooth. It begins at the roundabout and extends to the entrance of the town. It's a wide, double-lane avenue covered with grass. I started my walk from the roundabout, and upon entering, I found the sculpture of Gualberto Ibarreto, a singer, musician, and composer from eastern Venezuela, born in the Benítez municipality of Sucre state. Despite his advanced age, he has been present at the inauguration events of the boulevard that bears his name. The sculpture is surrounded by several white posts, decorated with gold musical notes at the top. The sculpture stands on a concrete pedestal and depicts him wearing alpargatas, a typical shoe for dancing traditional Venezuelan music (joropo), gray pants, and a yellow shirt with red stripes. He is standing playing the cuatro and wearing his signature hat. At his feet, there is a plaque indicating the year the sculpture was created and the name of its artist.
Around the singer's sculpture, there's a concrete circle with several rectangular sections, similar to a carousel. It features vibrant and eye-catching colors, as well as ornamental plants and lights. It's most popular at night, as the sun's rays are intense during the day. The sculpture looks realistic, and special attention was paid to the details of the outfit, highlighting the shoes and hat. I thought it was made of fiberglass, but it's concrete with an excellent paint job that simulates a bud. Compared to the boulevard's previous style, I like this one better because of its beautiful colors and decorations.
Hola amigos viajeros es un placer saludarles, deseando que tengan un excelente día en unión de sus seres queridos, ya estamos en el mes de marzo y el calor se ha intensificado en la ciudad, lo cual es propicio para visitar la playa, relajarse y disfrutar el hermoso paisaje, en esta ocasión les comparto mi visita al bulevar Gualberto Ibarreto, el cual se construyó el año 2020, pero el 10 de diciembre del año pasado se re inauguró, con un estilo diferente y colorido, en esta nueva imagen se colocaron nuevas estructuras, además se le cambió totalmente el diseño a las caminerías.
El bulevar se ubica en el retorno de El Peñón, en la carretera nacional Cumaná - Carúpano, a pocos metros del peaje, el bulevar inicia en el retorno y se extiende hasta la entrada de la villa, es una avenida doble y amplia cubierta con grama, inicié mi recorrido desde el retorno, al ingresar se encuentra la escultura de Gualberto Ibarreto, un cantante, músico y compositor Oriental, nacido en el municipio Benítez del estado Sucre, quien a pesar de su avanzada edad ha estado presente los eventos de inauguración del bulevar que lleva su nombre, la escultura rodeada con varios postes blancos, decorados con notas musicales en la parte superior de color dorado, la escultura se ubica en un pedestal de concreto y él viste alpargatas, un calzado típico para bailar la música tradicional venezolana (el joropo), pantalón gris, franela amarilla con rayas rojas, está de pie tocando el cuatro y lleva en la cabeza su respectivo sombrero, en la parte de los pies hay una placa donde se lee el año de creación de la escultura y su autor.
Alrededor de la escultura del cantante, hay un círculo de concreto, con varios rectángulos similar a un carrusel, tiene colores vibrantes y llamativos, también plantas ornamentales y luces alrededor, en horas de la noche se pueden apreciar y es el momento más concurrido, ya que durante el día los rayos del sol son intensos, la escultura parece realista y prestaron especial atención a los detalles del atuendo, resaltando el calzado y el sombreo, pensé que era de fibra, pero es de concreto con un excelente trabajo de pintura que simula el cogollo. En comparación con el estilo anterior del bulevar, este me gusta más por sus lindos colores y decoraciones.
A few meters past the sculpture of the eastern singer is the monument to the cuatro, a stringed musical instrument that accompanies traditional music with maracas and the harp. The photos show Guallberto Ibarreto with his ever-present instrument, striped shirt, and straw hat. In addition to the boulevard, there are murals throughout the city alluding to this prominent artist, one on Santa Inés Street and another in the open-air gallery near the boulevard, which pays homage to various figures from the region, as well as the flora and fauna of eastern Venezuela. To reach the cuatro sculpture, there is a colorful concrete walkway with small gardens on either side, similar to the figure of the artist. The cuatro sculpture rests on two circular bases that resemble a cake. On the upper level, there is a rectangular support attached to the cuatro. The cake is decorated with dark blue ribbons and surrounded by various plants and the typical grass that characterizes this boulevard, located in the center of Carúpano Avenue. It has posts... On both sides, triangular blue walls line the park, which also features LED lights around the sculptures and along the walkways. As you walk from the Gualberto Ibarreto sculpture, you'll see the walkways and the purple plants surrounding them, as well as the grass and posts adorned with musical notes. The walkways combine squares and rectangles in yellow, blue, green, and red. The floor has stained-glass-style designs that lend it a modern and timeless feel.
In front of the cuatro sculpture, there are two green trash cans for disposing of garbage and keeping the area clean, which is one of the park's rules: put trash in its place to maintain a clean and pleasant environment. On the morning of my visit, several people were cleaning and watering the plants. Since its reopening, the space has been kept clean and organized under the supervision and care of the staff of SERVIAMSA, a foundation whose mission is to maintain the upkeep of public spaces.
Luego de la escultura del cantante oriental y a pocos metros se encuentra monumento del cuatro, un instrumento musical de cuerda que acompaña la musica tradicional con las maracas y el arpa, en las fotos se ve a Guallberto Ibarreto, con su infaltable instrumento, franela a rayas y el sombrero de cogollo, en la ciudad además del bulevar hay murales alusivos a este destacado artista, uno de ellos en la calle santa Inés, otro en la galería al aire libre, ubicada cerca del bulevar, donde se rinde homenaje a varios personajes de la región, también la flora y fauna del oriente, para llegar a la escultura del cuatro hay una colorida caminería de concreto, con pequeños jardines a los lados, al igual que la figura del artista, la escultura del cuatro el cuatro descansa en dos bases circulares que representan una torta, en el piso superior hay un soporte rectangular, unido al cuatro, la torta está decorada con cintas de color azul oscuro, alrededor tiene varias plantas y la típica grama que caracteriza a este bulevar enclavado en el centro de la avenida Carúpano, posee postes por ambos lados y muros triangulares de color azul, también cuenta con bombillos Led, ubicados alrededor de las esculturas y en las áreas de las caminerías, al avanzar desde la escultura de Gualberto Ibarreto, se aprecia la caminería y las plantas de color morado alrededor de estas también la gramas y los postes con las notas musicales, la caminería combina cuadros y rectángulos en los colores; amarillo, azul, verde y rojo, el piso tiene diseños en forma de vitral que le dan estilo moderno y atemporal.
Al frente de la escultura del cuatro, se ubican dos papeleras de color verde, para colocar la basura y mantener el área limpia, que es una de las normas en este parque, colocar la basura en su lugar, para mantener un ambiente limpio y agradable, el día de mi visita que fue en horas de la mañana, habían varias personas realizando las labores de limpieza y regando las plantas, desde su reinauguración el espacio se mantiene limpio y organizado bajo la supervisión y cuidado del personal de SERVIAMSA, fundación que tiene como misión mantener el ornato de los espacios públicos.

These photos show the designs on the ground, the varied colors, the purple plants located around the walkways, the trash cans, and the benches shaped like asterisks or four-pointed stars, which are strategically placed along the walkways. The boulevard has approximately eight benches. I was struck by their design because of their shape; the benches I've usually seen in the city's various plazas are rectangular, some with backrests and others just a seat. These stand out because of their unique shape. There are also several benches of this type at the bus stop near the entrance to the El Peñón sector, perfect for sitting while waiting for the bus. The boulevard's new design looks very beautiful, cheerful, and colorful. Beyond the cuatro monument are other sculptures that I'll share later. It was a pleasant stroll along the boulevard, enjoying its beauty. and a colorful, renewed image.
El cuatro también está hecho de concreto y pintado con varios tonos de color marrón, que simulan la madera; al terminar mi recorrido por la escultura de Gualberto Ibarreto y el cuatro, me devolví hacia las caminerías para tomar algunas fotos, en las cuales se observan los diseños en el piso, los variados colores, las plantas de color morado ubicadas alrededor de las caminería, las papeleras y los bancos que tienen forma de asterisco o estrella de cuatro puntas, los cuales están ubicados en áreas estratégicas de las caminerías, el bulevar tiene aproximadamente ocho bancos, me llamó la atención este diseño por la forma que tienen, porque regularmente los bancos que he observado en las diferentes plazas de la ciudad, son rectangulares, algunos con espaldar y otros solo una base para sentarse, pero estos resaltan por su forma, también en la entrada hacia el sector El peñón, en la parada se encuentran varios bancos de este tipo, que son perfectos para sentarse mientras se espera el bus, el nuevo diseño del bulevar se ve muy bonito, alegre y colorido, a continuación del monumento del cuatro se ubican otras esculturas que compartiré más adelante, fue un agradable paseo por el bulevar, conociendo su hermosa y colorida imagen renovada.
