Cumaná Metropolitan Cathedral: Neoclassical architecture and design dating back to the colonial era (Eng - Esp)
Greetings fellow travelers around the world, I wish you a happy weekend and beginning of the month, Christmas officially begins, in my country many squares and avenues are already decorated with beautiful and colorful decorations that beautify and illuminate the city; while running errands downtown I made a short stop at the Cathedral, for some time I wanted to enter this church but had not been possible until now that I could finally see the interior of this temple which is the most important of Cumana.
Saludos amigos viajeros en todo el mundo, les deseo un feliz fin de semana e inicio de mes, oficialmente se da inicio a la Navidad, en mi país muchas plazas y avenidas ya están decoradas con lindos y coloridos adornos que embellecen e iluminan la ciudad; mientras realizaba diligencias por el centro de la ciudad hice una pequeña parada en la Catedral, desde hace tiempo quería entrar a esta iglesia pero no había sido posible hasta ahora que finalmente pude ver el interior de este templo que es el más importante de Cumaná.
In the front it has several columns and on each side a tower where the bell tower is located, these towers have four windows in the form of semi-arch that are located in the back and front, the materos are located on the sides and are made of concrete, the walls are light yellow and blue, the exterior floor has a checkerboard pattern interspersed squares of black and white, also has a perimeter fence or white wrought iron railings that protect the entire church building and its offices.
En la parte frontal tiene varias columnas y a cada lado una torre done se ubica el campanario, estas torres tienen cuatro ventanas en forma de semi arco que se ubican en la parte trasera y delantera, los materos se ubican a los lados y están hechos de concreto, las paredes son de color amarillo claro y azul, el piso exterior tiene forma de damero intercalando cuadrados de color blanco y negro, tiene también una cerca perimetral o rejas blancas de hierro forjado que protegen todo el edifico de la iglesia y sus oficinas.
The interior of the church is amazing, the ceiling is made of wood as well as the beams that are supported by several columns and semicircular arches, in the ceiling there are small windows in which you can appreciate beautiful stained glass windows that allow the passage of light and create a beautiful combination of lights and colors; in the windows there are also stained glass windows of the apostles and prominent figures of the church for their great faith. the benches are located on the right and left sides leaving a central aisle that leads to the altar and allows the free circulation of the parishioners.
El interior de la iglesia es asombroso, el techo es de madera así como las vigas que son sostenidas par varias columnas y arcos de medio punto, en el techo hay pequeñas ventanas en las cuales se pueden apreciar hermosos vitrales que permiten el paso de la luz y crean una hermosa combinación de luces y colores; en las ventanas también hay vitrales de los apóstoles y personajes destacados de la iglesia por su gran fe. los bancos se ubican a los lados derecho e izquierdo quedando un pasillo central que conduce al altar y permite la libre circulación de los feligreses.
The altar has a great design where the golden color predominates, in it there are several sculptures of saints and priests who have been relevant for bringing the faith to different parts of the world, also the tables and utensils that are used to perform services and ceremonies; the side windows are shaped like a semi-arch and grilles with beautiful designs, knowing the inside of this church was a great experience, which allowed me to know part of the history and importance for the population of the city of Cumana, capital of Sucre state.
El altar tiene un gran diseño donde predomina el color dorado, en el se encuentran varias esculturas de los santos y sacerdotes que han sido relevantes por llevar la fe a diferentes lugares del mundo, también las mesas y utensilios que se utilizan para realizar los servicios y ceremonias; las ventanas laterales tienen forma de semi arco y rejas con hermosos diseños, conocer el interior de esta iglesia fue una gran experiencia, que me permitió conocer parte de la historia y la importancia que tiene para la población de la ciudad de Cumaná, capital del estado Sucre.
