A tour of the House of Cultural Diversity, a space where ancestral art and history converge (Eng - Esp)
Greetings, fellow travelers! It is a pleasure to say hello and share my visit to the House of Cultural Diversity (Casa de la Diversidad Cultural) in Cumaná. It is located on Sucre Street in the Historic District—a street that is home to important institutions and colonial houses dating back over 200 years. Many of these have been restored while preserving their original design, making them city landmarks and points of interest for those who appreciate this architectural style, which was introduced to the country when Venezuela was a Spanish colony.
The House of Cultural Diversity is a space where you can learn about the country's culture across different eras and how it has been preserved over time. Like most houses in the area, it features a colonial design with large windows; the front displays a sign with the building's name and a mural depicting ancestral tools and instruments—such as clay vessels, natural fiber baskets, and musical instruments like the drum, cuatro, and mandolin—representing the music of the eastern region and the influences of the various groups that inhabited it.
Saludos amigos viajeros es un placer saludarles y compartir mi visita a la Casa de la Diversidad Cultural en Cumaná, esta se encuentra ubicada en la calle Sucre en el Casco Histórico, esta callealberga importantes instituciones y casas coloniales con más de 200 años de antigüedad, muchas de ellas han sido reparadas pero conservando su diseño original, lo cual las convierte en patrimonios de la ciudad y sitios de interés para quienes aman conocer este modelo de construcción que se implantó en el país cuando Venezuela fue colonia de España.
La casa de la diversidad cultural es un espacio donde puedes conocer la cultura de diferentes épocas del país y como esta se conserva en el tiempo, la casa al igual que la mayoría de las que se encuentran en esta zona tiene diseño colonial de amplias ventanas y en la parte frontal una valla donde se lee el nombre y un mural con figuras alusivas a los instrumentos y heramientas ancestrales, las vasijas hechas con arcilla, cestas de fibras naturales y instrumentos musicales como el tambor, cuatro, mandolina entre otros, que representan la música oriental influenciada por los diferentes grupos que habitaban en la región.

A place dedicated to a country’s art, culture and history always gives these things value and also allows people to visit and learn about them. I love the fact that the surroundings of the houses and even the cultural centre itself retain their colonial style, and it’s lovely to see it preserved in this way.

La casa de la diversidad cultural, es un espacio para conocer importantes aspectos sobre el arte y la cultura ancestral, también hay exhibiciones de el arte contemporáneo, fue un agradable recorrido por las diferentes áreas, especialmente la de de los tejidos y las artesanías con arcilla.
Uno de los municipios del estado, destaca por sus hermosos trabajos utilizando arcilla, de hecho en las celebraciones del cumpleaños de Cumaná, siempre traen sus lindos trabajos, sin duda estos artesanos tienen una gran trayectoria trabajando con arcilla.
Venezuela es un país rico en cultura y cada región tiene aspectos que lo hacen único y diverso, me alegra saber que estás aprendiendo sobre la cultura e historia de Venezuela, y ciertamente es un país muy cercano al tuyo que estamos ubicados en la misma zona, América del Sur
