Not sure about today. (Favorites from last week)
Photos is being inconsiderate with me. "Do you remember that day 1 year ago? 2 years ago? 3 years ago?" Yes. Of course I do. And yes, I remember all those pictures of my daughter because in the last 7 years I was able to be there. Not this time. No picture. Nothing.

"If you're already "casually" reading through everything I do and write and say and think, dear Google, you could be a little more sensitive." Or not. Rather not. That would be even more creepy than the whole situation already is. So, this post is a little different. I chose the pictures. But I feel like writing a little about the situation. Getting it off my chest. If you're just here for the pictures, that's fine, too. Not technicals, though.

I was able to speak to Lily today. At least that. Of course, last minute, her mother changed the rules yet again and said that we can only have one call as family with Lily. Which is kind of hard to organize with 30min notice and half my family on the other side of the planet. Neither logic nor empathy are a thing for her, unfortunately. But we managed to get at least 3 of the 4 together to call Lily. And it was something.

She had gotten one of those digital cameras for kids, that print out the picture if you want it to. She had a picture of her, and had printed it out, one for each of us. "It's sad that I can't send them to you," she said. But before she could get any sadder and hence have her mother get at us again with a tirade of us wanting to make Lily cry, I distracted her and she took photos of us through all talking on the phone, the 4 screens on the cellphone screen.

It was nice to see her, and yet it broke my heart a little to not be able to be there. Her mom is never nice to me on Lily's birthday, always trying to intervene and not have me be around. That's not new, but I always made it somehow, no matter how much of a... unfortunately behaving person she was. And Lily was always happy to see me. And she will be once the whole legal stuff moves forward. It's impressive how slow it is.

And we'll be a family again. A bigger one, hopefully, with Ellie and Kami. An even happier one. Once the legal side is decided, no matter which way, there's not much room for arguing left. Some, of course, but not on the scale as right now. That will change.

It has to.
