Sounds like a good plan! 550km... that's a really long trip! Is it mostly straight, or a very curvy roads? Here in Ecuador, everything is so curvy because out the mountains that it takes forever.

Most of the route was straight and I had a really good driver. 8 hours was anyways a long trip and I was very happy after arrival.
That's great. 8h for 550km ain't that bad. For 2 years, I traveled 825km to see my daughter down south. By bus, that took me 16-18h. The car wouldn't have been much faster, at least during the day. When I earned more money, I started using the plan. Still quite a bit of travel, but 6h (2h bus getting to the airport, 1h waiting, 1h flight, 2h bus to the destination) total is a lot better.
16 - 18 hours are really a long time... happy now that I had only 9 hours. Hope you can see your daughter often.
Now I can. The traveling was worth it, after two years, she came to live with me. The mom is still a piece of work, but the connection I built with Lily during those years is very strong.
