The last Daylily Bloom for the Year 2023

( EN / DE ) Some of you might remember my post a while ago where I was so happy that finally the first daylily bloomed on my balcony. I photographed this first flower on 28 June and it was just right for the Photo Essay Contest "Orange".
Today, on 18 August, more than one and a half months later, the last lily has bloomed for this year. Isn't it fascinating how long a single plant has gifted me with new flowers every day?

Einige von euch erinnern sich vielleicht noch an meinen Post vor einiger Zeit in dem ich so happy war, dass endlich die erste Taglilie auf meinem Balkon erblühte. Diese erste Blüte damals habe ich am 28. Juni photographiert und es war damals genau passend für den Photo Essay Contest "Orange"
Heute, am 18. August, also über eineinhalb Monate später, ist nun die letzte Lilie für dieses Jahr erblüht. Ist es nicht faszinierend, wie lange mich eine einzige Pflanze täglich mit neuer Blütenpracht beschenk hat?

Two days ago, the penultimate lily was already in bloom, and next to it, you can see the only remaining bud here:
Schon vor zwei Tagen blühte die Vorletzte und daneben, die einzig übrig gebliebene Knospe seht ihr hier:

When the flowers have faded, they first look as if they have dried, then they soon fall off and only the stem remains. The one in the foreground, on which they have long since faded, has already dried out because the plant withdraws its juices after flowering.
Wenn die Blüten verblüht sind, dann sehen sie erst wie getrocknet aus, fallen dann bald ab und zurück bleibt nur der Stängel. Der eine hier im Vordergrund, auf dem sie schon lange verblüht sind, ist mittlerweile schon ausgetrocknet, weil die Pflanze nach der Blüte ihre Säfte zurückzieht.

Today, as already mentioned, the last one for this year blossomed. In the foreground you can see the flower from two days ago, which has already dried up again. And I find them simply beautiful every time.
Heute nun, wie schon gesagt, erblühte die letzte für dieses Jahr. Im Vordergrund seht ihr die Blüte von vor zwei Tagen, die schon wieder vertrocknet ist. Und ich finde sie jedesmal wieder einfach nur wunderschön.

While many other plants can't cope with the extreme temperature fluctuations on the roof terrace, the daylily seems to feel like paradise and I'm thinking about planting only these in this window box for the coming summer.
Während viele andere Pflanzen mit den extremem Temperaturschwankungen auf der Dachterrasse nicht klar kommen scheint sich die Taglilie wie im Paradies zu fühlen und ich überlege ob ich nicht für den kommenden Sommer nur noch solche in diesen Blumenkasten pflanze.
