Blue no longer

I count myself as fortunate that I see in color as there's such beauty in it and in the world generally when perceived in color.

When I was at each of the places these pictures were taken my eyes drank in vibrant blue; the sky and ocean showing themselves in vibrant color and those colors and vistas are etched in my mind as beautiful physically and as beautiful memories.

Looking at them in black and white makes me feel the same way though, they're just as beautiful and maybe even more special because my mind sees through the tones and shades to the memories burned into it by having lived the vibrant colors in real life. Memories are powerful.

I took these pictures in three different parts of the world, one of them only hours away from where I live and the other two far far away and can recall the moments spent there clearly and fondly.

I remember thinking that there was so much blue, it was overwhelming almost, and because I can't change my vision to black and white decided to switch the camera to black and white. It wasn't a good camera, one of those point and shoot ones for dummies like me but it captured images and here's three of them. It wasn't until later I was to see the images and didn't know what to expect, maybe I even expected to be disappointed in them considering the vibrant vistas I'd seen when taking them, but I was not.

Those are some good photos for a simple point and shoot. I would love to see the scenery in the last photo in person. I can imagine it was beautiful.

Hello Joe, I hope you're ok.

yes, it was a nice little camera with a few settings like black and white and vivid and also one called toy which made things look small. It was as easy as turning it on and pressing the go button. That was, until I dropped it. 🙃

That last one was near a place called La Spezia in Italy and it was truly beautiful. Maybe one day I'll do a post on the area and show some of the color photos I have.

Doing great. Hope you are the same.

I checked out some information on LaSpezia. It seems like a cool place to visit. Lots of history to indulge in. The only place I can remember visiting in Italy is Naples and was there twice for a few short days each time. Not sure if I hit any other port cities there or not.

Look forward to your post ith the photos.

It's a lovely place. We walked the cliff/coastal path in the Cinque Terra area, (five towns) over a couple days and loved every moment and the little places we stayed at along the way. It's so beautiful.

These are nice pictures. The first one with the barriers that have faces is a bit creepy though. My favorite is the third photo. The calmness of the sky and the middle of the sea, contradicted by the water hitting the rocks and the shore, paints a pretty picture.

Thank you.

Those carved things are supposed to resemble life savers and are painted accordingly. They're very tall, much taller than a human. I suppose I liked the shadows they caused.

First of all I must say that you chose one of my favourite songs of all time, I love that song, I love it deeply!!!!

The pictures are beautiful, even if the camera was not super, especially the last two look to me like romantic and paradise places, to take a walk with the person you love the most. I loved them!

Thanks Becca.💗

It is certainly a lovely song and one I like so much as well.

Thank you for your comments on my photos, it is always difficult for me to share them as I don't think there's anything great about them but comments like yours help me feel more comfortable.

Yes they are, they are very good. Cheer up, because each of them has an essence.

It seems you got some great photos, no matter you were using a point-and-shoot. It's always fun to see the details in the B&Ws that your brain doesn't acknowledge in the reals when there is so much going on.

Hello Jacey, thank you for your comment which I appreciate as someone who doesn't take very good photos. It was a nice little camera purchased for an overseas trip so i could take some shots now and the. It was small so fitted in my pocket or little handbag and only cost a few hundred dollars. I had it for about three years and then dropped it and I had it no more. It had done its job though.
