RAF Waddington Families Day - Part Three - Red Arrows
Intertwined
As somebody with a keen interest in aviation photography, I do consider myself lucky that I live in Lincolnshire - so called "Bomber County" - such a rich aviation heritage. So with RAF Waddington only five miles away people would assume that I see the Red Arrows performing their displays regularly.
Single Red
Oddly, I can go two or three years without catching them displaying. Yes I see them practising, sometimes just two of them, sometimes five or seven and on rare occasions the full nine. So families day presented an ideal opportunity to catch them displaying.
Banking
I won't go into tonnes of detail in this post as I've posted about the Reds often enough here on Hive. The Reds were the second display of the day following on from the RSAF Falcons (which you can find in my post here.
Red, white and blue
As always, and as expected, they put on a fantastic display, in spite of the grey skies and full cloud cover. I (perhaps obviously) had to enhance some of the shots. Due to the lighting conditions and using high ISO, the images were a little on the dull side and grainy.
Smoke on
Usually, I don't have to do that much editing with my aviation photography, usually a bit of cropping and maybe some brightening or saturation adjustments, but some of these shots needed a bit more work. But I'm now happy enough with them to share.
One of the "synchro" pair
On an average model/fashion shoot I generally take around 60 - 100 shots, at this event (and most aviation shoots I do) I took around ONE THOUSAND. A lot of these are discarded straight off. But happily my hit rate is definitely improving and I don't bin as many as I used to when I first started getting more involved with aviation photography.
World turned upside down
Hopefully you'll enjoy these eight shots, if you do please feel free to leave a comment. Thanks for you time
