Age Is Not A Barrier

This past Sunday I went to my friend's studio to photograph some more mature ladies. To be honest the brief was not even brief, it was non-existent. But it was a paid gig and we photographers can't afford to ignore them. It turned out to be the most wonderful of days.

There were four photographers, one concentrating on boudoir, me doing portraits (and a bit more in the end) one doing more portraits and one we were supporting. Plus we had two models and MUAs who were there to mentor and help build confidence.

Julie was perhaps the most confident of all of the ladies and played to the camera quite a bit, which made for a lot of fun. She was perhaps the easiest to work with and needed less coaching from the two mentors, who worked really hard all day.

There was a lot of laughter during the day, and the ladies went home buzzing; they had really enjoyed their day. They felt confident and happy with what they had done (and had got so far out of their comfort zone). And for two of them it was another thing they were able to tick off their bucket list. All in all a good day. It was nice to work with a different age group for a change, it made for a different way of shooting, a different sort of interaction (and they even knew some of my favourite bands which is always a bonus). But it just goes to show, age doesn't have to stop you doing things you really want to do.

About me:

I can mostly be found shooting models, aviation, motorsports and, when I can, wildlife. But I enjoy most aspects of photography. You can find more of my work on the links below.
