My Journey Through the Graphite World - Genesis Chapter 17
Today I want to continue the story about how I tried to learn to draw with graphite pencils but at the same time I did not set myself simple tasks, and sometimes they were extremely difficult for me as for example in the case of a drawing or an illustration for Chapter 17 of the Book of Genesis which I began to draw on January 23, 2023 and finished the work on January 30 of the same year.
A particular difficulty for me was understanding how to depict this difficult chapter in terms of visual perception in which we read about God's covenant before Abram with one condition all the male people of his family had to be circumcised which was a covenant of these people before God and a guarantee of blessings for the whole family.
I decided to depict people in front of an abyss.
Someone believes in God and takes timid steps towards blessings, and someone looks down into the abyss and does not dare to do what God commands.
I think that it was not very easy for people to make such a decision for themselves because they are not babies who are not asked for consent for such a step as the Jews do today.
Sometimes it is simply difficult for people to go to church without any conditions just go in repent and reconcile with God but this is also very difficult.
I thought about starting the work for several days prayed and received what I was looking for.
For me it was exhausting work to work on the texture of the stones and on the image of people but the goal was more significant than my laziness.
Initially the picture was in the fog but the fog tends to dissipate.
As I said I put the pencil on the table next to the finished drawing on January 30, 2023, a small victory.
My collection of drawings which one day may be worth more than the silver that I once collected has been replenished with another exhibit.
