Pycnonotus aurigaster

Several months ago, I managed to photograph a finch (Pycnonotus aurigaster) perched on a branch of a guava tree near my house. I see this bird quite often around the yard, especially in the morning and evening, when it is not too busy.

Finches are known as birds that are easy to find in various areas, especially in residential areas, gardens and forest edges. His distinctive and melodious voice is often heard in chorus, becoming part of the sounds of nature that are familiar to many people. In this observation, the bird I saw looked healthy, had neat feathers with a striking bright red tail, and occasionally made chirps while jumping from branch to branch.

I feel lucky to be able to document this moment, because even though this bird is relatively common, it is still interesting to observe its behavior up close. Finches are fruit and insect-eating birds, and their presence is very important in maintaining the balance of the local ecosystem, including helping the dispersal of seeds.

NOTE: I first wrote the article above in Indonesian, which is my own language, then I translated it using English with the help of Goggle.
