Neurothemis fulvia

I identified it as Neurothemis fulvia, a species of dragonfly from the Libellulidae family.

This dragonfly is quite easy to recognize because it has distinctive dark maroon wings, especially in males. This color contrasts perfectly with the green background of the rice fields and grass where I found it, making it look striking and beautiful. The front wings are transparent at the tips, while the part near the body is darker, as if covered in red velvet.

I found him perched on the tip of a grass stalk near a rice field embankment, possibly resting or waiting for small prey such as mosquitoes and other small insects. When I approached it slowly to take a photo, it remained calm and didn't immediately fly away, giving me the opportunity to take several photos from different angles.

The Neurothemis fulvia dragonfly is generally found in watery habitats such as ponds, swamps and rice fields – places that match the location of my discovery. Their presence indicates a fairly healthy ecosystem because dragonflies are a good environmental indicator.
