Genus Neurothemis

Hello friends, nature lovers!
It's been a while since I uploaded a post to this community, because the past few weeks (or months? 😅) have been a bit busy with work, so I haven't had time to go for a walk in the forest as usual.

A few days ago, I finally had free time and I immediately used it to play for a while in nature around the village. It turns out that even if it's only for a short time, you can still find interesting little surprises. I found a beautiful dragonfly from the genus Neurothemis resting on a small branch near a rice field area.

From the color and shape of the wings, it looks like this is a type of Neurothemis fluctuans, but I'm not 100% sure because it is similar to other types in the same genus. Its wings look semi-transparent with a distinctive dark red pattern, and its body is also red-brown. Usually this type of dragonfly likes to appear around bodies of water such as rice fields, ponds or small ditches - and indeed I found it not far from irrigation canals.

This dragonfly was quite calm when I approached it, so I took several photos from different angles. It feels good to be able to observe and photograph insects like this again, especially after not being in the field for so long.

NOTE: I first wrote the article above in Indonesian, which is my own language, then I translated it using English with the help of Goggle.
