Homemade Gimbal head for tripod

In order to understand that you did something wrong, you need to do it wrong and then look at the result. To be more precise, I can do the same much easier and more reliable. At the same time, the set of the constructor will also be cheaper.

Oh, I let slip about the constructor... Now I have to explain.

See that curious tripod head? She looks doubtfully at the master and grins. But I have to explain everything in order.

I had the task of rotating the camera around the optical axis of the lens during shooting. I won't say yet what the hell it's for. That's all. The task has been set.

I opened my dusty drawers and started rummaging through them. There I found such an ancient device.

By the way, a wonderful thing for light cameras. But this is not my case, although at first I used this bracket.

I had to go to a photo store and sort through every little thing for a long time in search of parts of my designer. Now I already have a clearer idea of what exactly I need and tomorrow I will go to the store again.

And today I will show you a fully functional device.

It consists of four separate parts (I hope that tomorrow there will be one less and the structure itself will become tougher.

The main thing I needed was an L-shaped camera bracket (as it was called in the store).
I also had to buy a clip (Mini Crab 40) and a Magic Arm 7" holder.

I hope to get rid of some things tomorrow...

The design is basically working. It allows you to adjust the height of the camera relative to the point of rotation of the structure. Thus, it is possible to achieve the alignment of this point with the optical axis of the lens (which I needed).

If I understand that I really need it, then I will order another rotary head of the DH-55 type.
Practice will show...

It looks so pro :)
Universal too, as it will work with different cameras, as far as I see. Hopefully it is strong enough to hold the serious weight of bigger lenses! Bravo!

Cheers and Thanks :)
Yes, it is universal for any cameras, but I was confused by its stability. At first I added extra traction, but then I found a more drastic solution. Today I will show it in a new post. Elementary simple design and very budget )

I have already replaced the hinges with another corner/bracket. That's really reliable. It remains to finalize the rotary assembly itself for smoothness and fixation in 8 positions. But then you have to pick up the tools.

I have already found the ball from the bearing of the desired diameter :)
