The Less I Think It Is…

Seeing more of the world. It is a mental note I have decided to take seriously this year. While the country made it almost impossible to even think of giving yourself a nice treat by going out to explore, I have found my ways around it.

I know that I deserve more in a country where the elite citizens see the masses as lesser beings. Being a minimalist, I like my own space, just me and me alone in a small area just minding my business, and it has been fun.

However, being a minimalist doesn't mean I should just take in the less I have and stand by it. To me, it means having to explore in a simple way instead of taking the extravagant lifestyle. Seeing this, I realized it was time for vacation. Taking a vacation is fun. But at first, it didn't seem like it. After getting to the place, I realized the less that was at home was more when it came to the price of commodities and even nature around here. Where I come from, the prices of things are minimal to the one here.

It just felt like the cost of things doubled here and it reminds me of how I felt whenever I go to the market in my place and come back with things and a sentence to make, "Things are damn costly! What's this country turning into?"

However, after going for a vacation, things right here are four times more costly than they were in my place, and it was really frustrating because I didn't even know what to say.

The more I went out to purchase things, the less I crave not coming to the outside world to purchase things and maybe find a way to get things straight from my place here. But, it is impossible to do, so I am stuck.

And, this did start ruining my vacation mood. In a country like Nigeria, the country's currency is now a slap on the face that the less money made, the more money needs to be spent, which is ridiculous.

This makes me miss home, but I knew I needed this vacation because I had promised that this year, I would try visiting new places and exploring more of nature and all. So, to be able to explore more next time, I made more of the less I have here.

I saw this as another bigger experience to adapt to new places and their ridiculous prices of things in my way. This means I'll spend less and enjoy every vacation I have.

Also, I got a new purse before traveling. It is a minimalist underarm shoulder bag. At first, I didn't like it much because it felt like it wouldn't contain some of my stuff.

But, I was wrong because it made traveling easier. It contained the things I needed, and there was even some space left.

Although I saw the underarm shoulder bag as something that was less because it wasn't what I had in mind. You know when you have a dream bag to rock your travel but get something less? Yeah, that was how I felt. But, seeing as things were, I had no choice but to get it because I needed a new bag to travel the next day.

...and, I have to confess that I am glad I got it and it was at a very good price. And it was very nice knowing that, the less I once saw it to be, the more it actually is.

Images used are mine.

Still yours truly,
Balikis.

Thanks for reading.

Peace be unto those who crave it and more to those who chase it away.

My dear sis please don't talk about the Nigerian Market because it is a nightmare. You would buy something at a price today but when you go back the next day for the same item, you will find that the price has tripled. It's like we don't have a government at all, even the rich are crying now

It is very sad, and it is just scary whenever I think how others are surviving. Things aren't just... right.

I am also a minimalist and I always apply this mantra in my daily life that "less is more." You're not alone. The situation is the same in Philippines but luckily I live in a suburban place where things are not so expensive but in our capital city, the price of commodities there are like dollars lol. I'm somehow grateful from where I live but you know what, you did the right thing by choosing to travel. Through travelling we'll get to experience new things beyond what we know. I hope you'll continue traveling more!

Thanks, Sister. Surely, I am not alone in this, and prices of commodities skyrocketing seem to be everywhere. It is something else, like spitting dollars, just as you've said.

Yes, through travelling, there's more to learn. Thanks for stopping by 😊.

Welcome sis. The good news is there are many ways to minimize our spending everyday such as gardening and buying foods in bulk through discount and more.

I also want to travel one day to experience different scenery. It's a pleasure for me reading your blog!

That's right. Buying in bulk helps, and I love doing that. I saving for it and acquiring it.

I hope you do. It'd be a great adventure! Thanks for stopping by 😊.

One should leave for another place to see the happenings there.

This is what I did last year just to minimize my spending and it did help my savings.

It is crazy as you can not treat yourself to your taste because of the high price tag 😱

Yeah, that's right. Exploring other places will help us see more of the world.

That's very nice. Nice to know.

Haha, it sure is! Thanks for stopping by, Sis

You are just so right @balikis95 .The world’s inflation is alarming. Everything seems as if there is no more control on them by anyone. What are the leaders doing especially on this currency issue? It’s baffling.

It sure is baffling. Dollar is been lied upon severally that it doesn't make sense anymore. That's the world we live in. We just have to live a good life.

The rate at which things are increasing is alarming. I've also experienced this a lot. Living in a student environment, where everything is expected to be less costly, you find out that things are more expensive than they usually are at home. But then, we must survive, mustn't we?

Yeah, sure, we must. No matter what, we surely must move on. It is a necessity.

Thanks for stopping by, dreemer.

The situation in Nigeria is moving from worse to worst. The purchasing power of an average Nigerian has been eroded by the bitting inflation. It's hard for me to do budgeting these days because if you base your budget on yesterday's data, what you are going to meet today is different. Tomorrow is unpredictable. I hope something is done quickly.

However, we need to keep going and having fun can't be done away with. This is where a nice vacation time comes in. Before I forget, the bag is nice.

Enjoy yourself my fellow #dreemer. We shall see the end of the economic downturn.

That's just it. Nothing is getting better, and it is so crazy because we are supposed to look back at our past and be grateful for how the future turned out. Lol... that isn't the case, and that's super sad.

Yes, we just need to keep moving. That's the way out. Thanks for your kind words.

Haha, let's see dreemer.

I often think that going minimal allows you to take in or see more. Not so much 'baggage' to carry allows more memories to come home.

Take in or see more. I like that. That's right. Thanks for stopping by.

I can't even laugh because it is very painful and choking. My heart really goes to those who can't even afford it when it was 50 or so. And now??? Lol

When you have less to do, you have more time to put in your best in doing them.

Talking about how the cost of things are skyrocketing in this country will give room for one to think and worry more which won't bring any solution. We are in deep shit, only time will determine where we will be next.

Things are very crazy, Lol.
