Hello everyone, hope you're doing great. Today is a great day for me because I was able to explore a new town in the area of Idemili South Local Government area of Anambra State, Nigeria. The name of this town is Oba and it is a fast developing town. The development in the area started quickly after it was announced that a large area of land has been mapped out by the government to build an airport.
It has taken many years now and no airport has been built, now those individuals who once owned the area of land as it was passed on to them by their ancestors now had to go and start selling their portion of lands.
The majority of that area now is covered with houses and industries, it was so quick and appeared as though the buildings had grown from the ground like grass in a big field.

This place where I visited is not too far from the area that would have been an airport. This place is St. Peter's Anglican church Oba, a church that has long been in existence that the old church building within the compound is so old and left behind. Another church building was constructed which is much bigger to accommodate thousands of people who come to worship in the arena. In front of the church gate opposite the tarred road, I saw a petrol station which seems to be fully operational and the name J. Rondo.
Inside the church compound there are different trees which I see that bear fruits, for example the mango tree.
I also found other buildings in the same compound which serve as classes for students, so this made me know that the church runs a school. The environment of the church is not noisy as in most places I've visited and the area where the church is located is among the safest places in the town.

The church compound is really very big and they also have a bus for missionary journeys and other purposes which can at least contain 30 passengers at the same time while giving them the comfort they need.
Most part of the land within the compound was interlocked and this helped control weeds in the compound except for the areas mapped out for trees and flowers.
Inside of the church is quite beautiful, there are lights everywhere and no dark spot in any corner. In the front of the church at the altar section, there is a giant crucifix that can be visibly seen from every angle whilst inside the church and just before the area the cross hangs there is a bold inscription which reads thus “BE YE HOLY FOR I AM HOLY SAITH THE LORD”.

Inside the church, there is a provision for some people to stay upstairs and chairs are properly arranged. There are multiple fans to keep air in motion inside the church for more comfortability.
I must confess, Oba is a town that we'll known for their agricultural products because there are many farmers within the region. Even inside the church premises, multiple number of palm-trees can be seen but looking over the fence, I saw many more number of palm-trees, mango trees, plantains and banana plantations.

Inside the church compound, I noticed there is an ongoing effort to renovate the old building structures starting from the church tower which seems quite unique from other church towers I've seen in the different areas I've visited in different regions.
The church was welcoming to visitors, particularly those who came for prayers.

Thank you very much for stopping by to see my post.

Idemmiri South is my local government and I am certainly from Anambra. Thank you so much for shearing this with us @baby1... I have always known about Oba, but do not know about St Peter's Catholic church.
