When the park lights became my lighting designer; The story of a night photographing flowers

Hello to all my artist friends in the beloved, cherished, and special black and white forum. I hope you are all doing great. After a long time, I missed you all and came back to be with you again with a beautiful post.

A few nights ago, my friends and I decided to get some fresh air and go to one of the parks in the city. It had a good vibe, we laughed a lot and chatted. But when I was leaving the park, for a moment my gaze fell on the warm and pleasant lights of the park that were combined with the beautiful flowers around it. It had a special sense of calm... I couldn't pass by indifferent. I took out my phone and took a few pictures that I would like to share with you. Really, some moments are simple but they truly touch the heart.

"This photo you see was taken that night in the park. The light from the park's lamps fell softly on the flowers and a special feeling was spread in the air. I decided to take the photo in black and white to focus on the form and texture of the flowers, not the color. I manually adjusted the phone's camera; I set the focus on the front flower and with a shallow depth of field, I blurred the background to convey that feeling of solitude and tranquility of the night. The combination of light, shadows, and the low angle of the camera made this photo revive the delicate feeling of the night for me."

"These flowers that you see, had good light on them and were in a better angle compared to the park lights. That's why the first thing that caught my attention was these, and I decided to start photographing from this point. It was as if they were saying: start with us!" 🌼📸

These few flowers that you see in the picture were positioned at a different angle to the light. The light hit them at a slanted and soft angle, and this created a beautiful chiaroscuro between the petals. That's why I tried to arrange the composition in such a way that both the flowers in the front, which had direct light, were visible, and these ones that gave a sense of depth and variety to the photo.

While I was busy photographing in the park, I suddenly decided to take close-up shots that would fully show the details of the flower. The light from the park's lamps was very soft and directional, and when I looked closely at the flowers, the texture of the petals and the pollen grains on the stamens were like another world... as if a small planet in the silence of the night.

I manually adjusted my phone's camera, reduced the light to prevent the highlights from burning out, and focused precisely on the flower's stamen. I changed the angle a few times, moved closer, stepped back... I was really immersed in taking pictures at that moment and wanted to capture the best shot of each flower. This photo is one of those moments; a close-up frame, full of details, and very intimate.

The experience of photographing flowers under the nighttime light of the park was more than just a simple technical exercise for me; it was a direct encounter with beauty in silence and limited light. I learned that sometimes artificial light can also be poetic, as long as it is seen correctly.

In this journey, I tried to carefully choose the composition, as well as precisely adjust the exposure and focus so that I could capture the delicate and calm essence of the flowers in the heart of the night. Whether in a wide shot or a close-up, the most important thing for me was to be able to convey a real sense of the moment.

And this was the end of this photography series, but the beginning of a fresh perspective on light, texture, and details that might never be seen in broad daylight.

Until the next experience, with fresh light and a new story... 📷🌙
