Floating Ship Museum which is a power generating ship that was blown 3 km away during the tsunami.

The Floating Diesel Power Plant (PLTD) is located in Punge Blang Cut Village, Jaya Baru District, Kota Banda Aceh, Indonesia. PLTD Apung is an educational museum about disaster mitigation. The existence of the PLTD Apung Museum or Floating Ship Museum is a silent witness to the enormity of the Tsunami disaster that hit Aceh in 2004.

Imagine, a power generating ship 63 meters long and weighing 2,600 tons, could move tsunami waves 3 kilometers from the sea to the center of Banda Aceh City.

Instead of being moved or reused as a power generator, the ship is now a museum and one of the tsunami tourist destinations in Aceh. The world can witness the enormity of the tsunami in this museum, apart from the Tsunami Museum in Kota Banda Aceh.

But we're not talking about that scary tsunami. We are photographing students who are hunting for typical Acehnese souvenirs. A row of souvenir stalls stands in front of the Floating Ship Museum, which is the choice of tourists.

In front of the PLTD Apung Museum, tourists can buy various typical souvenirs at low prices. For example, there are typical Acehnese hats (kupiah meukutop), T-shirts, various shapes and types of knitted bags, rencong (traditional Acehnese weapons), to the cheapest, namely key chains. Everything can be bought at a cheap price.

So, tourists can stop by the row of stalls selling souvenirs after receiving tsunami disaster mitigation at the PLTD Apung Museum. By spending only IDR 100,000, tourists can get various types of unique souvenirs.[]
