Colorful Flowers in Black and White Frame: MONOMAD

The natural beauty of the Gayo region in Takengon, Central Aceh Regency (Indonesia), extends beyond the vast expanse of Lake Lut Tawar—which covers an area of 54.72 square meters—or the sprawling Gayo coffee plantations, renowned for using organic fertilizer free from chemical additives.
The cool town of Takengon also boasts a variety of flowers easily found along the roadside or at various tourist destinations. Visitors are generally free to pick these wildflowers, with the exception of those intentionally planted by the site's management.

If a particular flower catches your eye, you can simply ask the owner, and they will often give it to you for free—a testament to the hospitality of the Gayo people toward tourists.
I was drawn to photographing these wildflowers using a D-100 SLR camera. Although the flowers come in a myriad of beautiful colors, their allure remains undiminished when rendered in black and white.

Stripped of color, the flowers' power on the monochrome canvas shines through their unique and exquisite forms. They seem to hold an unsolved mystery, like blossoms born of a bygone era.
I do not know the names or species of these flowers. Through the camera's viewfinder, I focused solely on their unique shapes—including shots where the blue sky in the background transformed into a stark white.
Thank you for your attention!
