Walking around the surroundings of the Félix Sáenz square 📷 Malaga - Spain

The historic city centre of Malaga is very vast. I would say that it is impossible to walk around and enjoy it in one day.

It has so many streets and most of them cross and intersect that it is very easy to get lost if you don't have a map or don't know the place well.

It is difficult to demarcate the limits of the historic centre, which I have walked through several times and now know well.

The truth is that, within it, there are very old buildings, some of them renovated, most of them with an architecture and style that, at least to me, dazzles me.

Inside this great place full of history there are many squares, small spaces surrounded by a lot of architectural beauty.

On this occasion my walk starts in Sagasta street, a street where we can find many shops, for example clothes shops, but also one of the many locals called 100 Montaditos, very famous in the city, where you can eat well and have a delicious coffee.

My way along this street led me to the square called Plaza de Félix Sáenz, where many other streets converge and where we can find many shops with a wide variety of themes.

If we stop to look from the centre of this small square, we can see beautifully styled buildings. I liked what I saw very much, so I decided to take a tour of the surrounding area.

First I came across this golden sculpture, as imposing as if it wanted to reach the sky. It is impossible not to see it when walking around the place. It reminded me of the theme of having a focus because it ends in a point. It is very beautiful.

Signs all over the historic centre show or point out the important places to visit, like this one that tells us which streets to take to get to the Thyssen Museum, the Museum of Arts and Customs and the great Church of San Juan.

20240223_161034.jpg

Every corner where every street leads to this square is beautiful and usually on the ground floor there is a café or a shop, places chosen by the tourists as an obligatory stroll.

20240223_161046.jpg

Tourists do not always go there to shop or have a drink, but also to stroll through the beautiful streets, and I accompanied them on this walk admiring the buildings.

20240223_161209.jpg

Many of them in their different floors are used for renting, mainly for tourism, mostly in the summer season, but there are tourists here all year round.

20240223_161129.jpg

One of the corners that caught my attention because of its architecture and design, and even more because of its beauty, is located on Sebastián Souvirón street. After some research I couldn't tell if it was a building with an important history.

20240223_161132.jpg

But there is no doubt that it is a marvellous sight and does not go unnoticed.

On the ground floor there used to be an H&M shop but nowadays there is a perfumery shop called Druni.

A corner with many places to visit, restaurants and cafes. But I was most struck by this building. I tried, despite the narrow streets, to take pictures from every possible angle.

20240223_161124.jpg20240223_161143.jpg

Very picturesque and striking balconies, very well preserved and with exquisite decorations that make this building very unique.

20240223_161418.jpg

My walk continued through the narrow streets surrounding the aforementioned square, scanning the shops. The buildings are so tall that the sun does not reach the streets.

Every balcony is a new view, and the state of repair is always astonishing, as is the cleanliness of every street.

From another corner of the square, you can see more buildings, but in this case with the decoration of the palm trees planted in the same streets.

One of the busiest Andalusian restaurants in the area is La Cueva de 1900, located on Calle Alarcón Luján.

The building on top of it is another of the amazing buildings I found walking around. The sun's rays illuminated it and the effect of the palm trees made it marvellous.

Although the site was being renovated at the time, it looked just as beautiful.

Towers and buildings with palm trees are a classic sight around this square and a great sight for the tourist.

I really enjoyed walking around these places and my focus was always on the architecture, the balconies and the beauty that surrounds it. People really enjoy this space because it is also a place to pass through in order to get to the main avenue.

Walking a little further away, I came to a very emblematic corner of the historic centre, on one side we found the Patatas Paco José shop. It is very colourful and you can find all kinds of products, but above all a great variety of potatoes.

It is a very popular place with tourists and locals alike. A very famous shop in the city.

20240223_162516.jpg

20240223_162529.jpg

And on the opposite corner I found the last beauty of today's tour. On the ground floor is a real estate agency called Engel & Völkers. But the best of all is when you look up and see another architectural beauty, white and radiant amidst the blue sky and some clouds.

Many details in its decorations and balconies made this building one of the most striking in the surrounding area.

It was the corner that stood out the most among all the streets I walked along in that area.

20240223_162615.jpg

I hope you enjoyed this little walk, I really enjoyed discovering so much history and design with a very particular style.

Thank you very much to all of you for coming and reading this far. Best regards and see you next time.
Amonet.

Hello Amonet, nice walk, some of the houses look like early twentieth century, at least I find modernist style and, it is true that, authentic works of art. But, what most caught my attention is the sculpture, the one that points to the sky, at least in the photo it caught my attention. Thanks for the tour @avdesign

This sculpture is beautiful and in every square there is a sculpture of different material and shape. I love the importance you give to art. Thank you @enraizar 😃

I'm a gossip, and I've been looking around Malaga (on the internet, of course) I've seen that there is art deco architecture, I don't know if you have already uploaded something, if you haven't... here I am waiting for a post on the subject.

Yes, I think I posted something a while ago in this same community, about a building near a market. I don't remember the date.
