The blue density - Pedregalejo beach west side 📷 Malaga - Spain
Walking along the different beaches of the city gives different experiences every time and all of them delight the heart and the senses.

Before coming to live in Malaga I remember looking on the map about its beaches and discovering that along its route with about 15 of them was something I did not expect. Some are small, short stretches like some I have visited, isolated and lonely and others have large extensions like the beach of Pedregalejo with more than 1.200 metres long and the beach of Baños del Carmen is in the middle of it.
In other words, if you look at the map there is a stretch of beach on either side of Baños del Carmen and on this occasion I walked and explored the west side of this great beach, although in itself it is all on the east side of the city. Apart from the distance, the names and the extension, both sides are quite different and this part that I visited has practically no sandy area or coastline where, for example, you can sunbathe. The other part does.

My route begins leaving the beach of Baños del Carmen behind and following the path along the promenade, because as you can see, there is no beach in that area, only a few metres, but immediately there is a wall of rocks piled one on top of the other up to almost the height of the promenade.
My walk was towards the centre of the city, so on my left I had the sea and on my right the neighbourhood with the same name, a large neighbourhood that was originally a fishermen's neighbourhood. The whole eastern part of the city was dedicated to this activity in ancient times and its settlements were very close to the beach, to the water. It then spread northwards, but the land elevations are not far from the beach, so many buildings were built on top of it.

As I went along I was taking pictures on one side and on the other, trying to capture the two totally different but complementary environments, imagining the great views of the people who live in those buildings and who look out of their windows and see that blue immensity. I can't deny that it is my dream to have that view every day for the rest of my life, I love the sea.
But also as I went along I looked down and saw the rock formations in the water and they created a spectacular atmosphere, where the crystal clear water made you see the background and the colours of the rocks, as well as a faint turquoise colour in the deep blue water.

Along the way I came across signs giving directions and as I walked along I saw a rest area with several palm trees and some shade, which I believe also serves as a viewpoint overlooking the immense beach. As you can see, there is no coastline in the sense of being able to walk along the beach, but you can only walk along this path or promenade and look at the beach from above. In the meantime I was always looking at the houses and the beautiful buildings on my right.

The eastern part of the city is the most beautiful and where the rents are the most expensive, quite wealthy people live there, and it is easy to guess just by looking at the beautiful residential place.
Every few minutes I could find palm trees where I could sit in the shade for a while and then continue my walk. At that time it was still summer and the sun was quite strong.
I love taking pictures behind the palm trees, it generates beautiful postcards looking at the city with the sea in between. Even the harbour and the most touristy beaches were far away.

Between the promenade and the houses there were boulevards with different types of vegetation, mainly palm trees and different types of succulents and cacti, but also many bushes with showy flowers.

As I always say, I like to look back on my walk and admire the views that are being created in the landscape. Besides, in this kind of natural places that contrast with the city is where I most like to practice photography, the palm leaves and the sea get along very well in my opinion.

Today's walk ends at a sports park called Parque de Ejercicios del Paseo MarÃtimo, where from there begins another beach called Playa La Caleta.

This sports park has a lot of apparatus for that purpose, and also explanatory panels about what each of them is for and how to do the exercises, everything is meticulously detailed. There is also a rest area and shade to recover from your walks.

Many people, and not only tourists, use this stretch of the path to hike all day long and these shaded areas are necessary in the middle of the summer and as I was saying, they also function as viewpoints to take photographs of the beautiful views that can be seen. The immensity of the sea is amazing and I never get tired of looking at it, it is as if I enter a hypnotic trance, I think the sea is magic.
Thank you very much for joining me today, I send you my best regards. See you soon.
