Summer: from hate to love? 🌞🌊
I wouldn't say I love summer, but now I like it a little more, or quite a bit more, than I did a few years ago. Every country is different when it comes to the seasons, and for me, my opinion of summer has changed dramatically.
How can I explain what summer was like during the first forty years of my life: suffocating, scorching, unbearable, deadly. I suppose there are more words to describe it, but that's how I experienced it. The city of BahÃa Blanca, where I lived, is located in a low-lying area, in a basin.
Winters were very cold, with temperatures dropping below zero and wind chill factors of up to 15 degrees below zero. It was a cold that you felt in your bones, especially when it rained and was humid. The summer is dry and windy, I felt suffocated and always said that when I stuck my finger out into the garden, it turned black from the burning air.
But worst of all, I have low blood pressure, that is, my normal blood pressure is low, 10-6, or as they say here, 100-60, I think. So summer was real torture for me. I hated it deeply, because my blood pressure dropped even more and I couldn't even breathe. I lived lying on the floor, the coolest place. Of course, I didn't have air conditioning. I couldn't afford it, and even if I could, the electricity supply in my neighbourhood was so low that electrical appliances would burn out... it was impossible.
That's why I eat so many cold things; they keep my body temperature down. I even ate ice. I suffered so much in the summer that I never want to go through that again. I spent January and February lying on the floor or in bed. I even remember one day my brother looking at his phone and saying, ‘It's hotter than Africa!’ And it was. I hated summer with every fibre of my being. The highest temperature I remember is 45 degrees with a heat index of 54. I wanted to die, you know, especially because my blood pressure was so low. When summer was over, I came back to life and that's how I came to love winter.
There's a lot more to say, but I think that gives you an idea.
Seven years ago, I moved to Spain. I arrived on 13 June 2018, in summer, and you know what? I never had low blood pressure again. I didn't know what it was like to live without low blood pressure, and there I was in July, walking down the street at 2 p.m. in 39-degree heat, and I wasn't dizzy. It was a blessing after all I had suffered. I really didn't expect that, and I was happy to be able to be outside without fear of fainting in the street and to be able to be in an apartment or a house and not have to lie on the floor gasping for oxygen.
I'm not going to say it's not hot, it is, but it's so different... too different. I hated the other summer... not this one. Here, summer is, I have to say, very sticky, you sweat a lot, which I had never experienced before, but with a fan and ice-cold water, I can cope. Of course, I drink a lot of tereré, which is cold mate, made with yerba mate, ice-cold water, ice and any kind of juice. I add lemon because it has no sugar, and I drink it all day long.
I don't have air conditioning either, but living high up on the fifth floor, the air is different than if I lived on the first floor. And of course, when I go out, I always take my bottle of ice-cold water with me. I know some people can't drink it that cold, but if I don't have it, I'll die. I don't like room temperature water, even in winter. Winters here are spectacular; it never freezes. I never wore the wool clothes I brought from Argentina.
Another big difference is the sun. I love sunbathing and being tanned; I'm fascinated by it. The sun in Argentina was so hot, even at supposedly optimal times, that it damaged my skin. Here, I sunbathe at any time of day and nothing happens to me. Is it another planet? It might be.
The reality is that I studied this city a lot before coming here, and geographically it is protected by a mountain range that keeps everything behind it from reaching here, whether it's cold or hot. It's shaped like a semi-circle. And to the south is the wonderful Mediterranean Sea, which balances the temperatures, which is why I always say that I live under a dome.
There is much more to say, but I wanted to start my activity here by making this comparison of how I used to experience summer and how I experience it today. Today I can say that I live it, whereas before I just survived it. I don't know if it's love for summer, but I have a fondness for it now.
I would like to invite @jlufer, @steemflow and @neruel to get to know this great new community and share their summer vibes.
Thank you all for reading today. Best regards. See you soon.

Hello Amonet, good morning.
I'm so glad your blood pressure stabilized and your health improved significantly after moving to Spain.
Terere with lemon is a great companion for the summer. I love it.
You made a wise decision to buy your iced water bottle. You can take it everywhere.
What beautiful photographs! I'd love to visit.
Have a wonderful day.
It's a great community to talk about summer! You can come whenever you want. Thank you very much!
What a wonderful journey you're taking us on!
Don't forget to stay hydrated!
I won't forget it, thank you!!!
My city is tropical, so I'm used to the heat and I like it. The only thing is that I don't have a beach. That's why I want to go somewhere where there is a beach, to enjoy the sun, that beautiful sun that gives you energy and inspires you to do many things.
Here there is a beach, the one in Pavia and the artificial one hahahaha. You have to go to one of the two.
I'd rather go to a real beach; that artificial one is too expensive, haha.
Ahhh, you have to pay... no, don't go there! Don't pay less for a beach!

Your city mate says you have two beaches... Hahaha, how is that possible? Hahaha
I love the beach, it's relaxing and inspiring in so many ways! Thanks for your comment, JC!💗
One of them, says Neruel, is a pasture for goats, ha ha ha, an area called Pavia where the sun beats down hard. The other is a water park with an artificial beach. But they don't let you bring food, you have to buy everything inside, and everything costs 10 times more than the real price.
Ahh no! Definitivamente no vayas ahÃ, mejor playa gratis.🤣
Pavia
I can't deny that summer can have negatives and positives. Venezuela has no seasons, only seasons: rain and droughts. In Venezuela Barquisimeto is known as the city of eternal summer, it is where I live.
The semi-arid climate is relentless in some periods of time, as well as refreshing. We have a serious climate problem, but it can be solved with responsible forestation.
I like the cold, especially the fog, and I am attracted to snow. The closest I came to it was Merida and it was wonderful. Incredible. Likewise, I am fond of the eternal summer. It is very cool, as well as pleasant.
Thanks for the mention and the invitation friend. I send you a big hug. :)

As long as it's cool, there's no problem, but the one in Argentina was like a burning hellfire that never stopped! Hahaha, fog... it's mysterious!
I understand you perfectly… like someone said in a comment on my post… ;) you've passed on to a better life. A first-world country can never be compared to a third-world one—even summer and the heat feel different. I knew you wouldn’t take long to post here, and what a great title. 😂
The title came to me while I was sleeping... I had the whole post in my head... my mind never stops and I never get bored, ha ha ha.
We Latinos understand each other, ha ha ha, we know what it's like. And I won't forget, it was 40 years!
Yay, your summer vibes arrived as well!!! Thank you!!!
Hahaha, from hate to love 😂
My blood pressure is something like 92 with 60 😂 , at least it used to be, but maybe it changed as I don't feel that anymore either. I am very glad you bear with summer better here in Spain, maybe it was the huge change in your life (coming here) that also affected it in a positive way. And Malaga is an awesome city, at any season!! And summers - I see they are great as well! 😇
As my mother says... the only problem is that it's sticky, haha, very sticky! And well, she has a lot of varicose veins and the heat isn't good for her, but I buy her stockings and with the medication she's doing well.
Another remedy for the summer... sea water! Thank you very much!
My blood pressure hasn't changed, but at least I don't suffer here, because I can assure you it was hell.
Hello dear friend @avdesing, good morning
I'm so sorry for everything you had to go through living in your hometown. The climate in our country, especially in the summer, can be very hostile and unhealthy.
In my case, due to high blood pressure and arrhythmia, I need to take care of myself in the winter.
I wasn't aware of this community. Thank you very much for the invitation.
Have a lovely afternoon.
I think it has to do with the location of the city specifically, and the low blood pressure didn't help at all, because in summer it dropped even more! Now I'm fine. I didn't think it would happen like this, but now I enjoy it in a different way. Take care of yourself!
A change of climate is sometimes the right thing to do for health. These Spanish beaches look wonderful. I like the colour composition of this shot because of how soft the colours look and blend into each other.
It changed my life in every way. There is no comparison between a third world country and a first world country. Thank you!
Hi @avdesing, I'm glad about this radical change, and for the better, from your summers in Argentina to the summers in Malaga. Someday you could explain that deep study that took you to Malaga and not to another place in the world or in Spain.
A big hug.
The preliminary study... took me two years, ha ha ha. I analysed the climate, opportunities, cost of living, safety and the general environment.
Good work, that's a publication.
Spain because... I got my citizenship... ahhh, that story? The whole story? Since I got my citizenship? I think that could go on Hive Spain... I think.
It would be a good community to get to know a bit more about the history that brought you to Malaga from Argentina.
Descansa!! Abrazo!!!
Thank you very much! Good evening!👋🤗
Buenas noches!! Hasta mañana!! 🤗👋
🤗👋
Yes it must be very hard for your condition friend, for everything you say is not easy, on the other hand your pictures are luxury and I am so far from the sea.
I didn't think it would change my life so much, but before, summers were pure suffering. Not anymore! Thank you very much!
