Path of lights and shadows.
Life is a path, a path full of decisions, some are taken well, others not so well, and this makes the path full of lights, but also of shadows. The lights bring joy to our lives and allow us to see the road well and move forward quickly, and the shadows help us to learn, even if we go slower. Let not the shadows frighten us, they are there for a special reason, perhaps to appreciate more the rays of the sun that often sneak in ... between shadows.
We derive from nature and therefore I think the comparison between the different spaces of nature and life is correct. I love hiking and many times, if not all the times, I don't know what I'm going to find when I set out on the path.
Sometimes there are straight paths, sometimes curves and counter-curves, sometimes flat and sometimes up hills. But on most of these roads there are lights and shadows.
There are areas where the sun is so strong that it blunts the view, because there are not so many trees there. But there are areas where there is so much vegetation that the shadows are dark and deep, so much so that it is very cold because the sun rarely comes.
Just as in life many times we believe that the shadow zone will never end, that we are in a very dark and deep well like the thick shadows generated by the number of trees, but... the sun is still out and as we move, as we take action in life, as we look for solutions, as we continue to walk the road looking for paths, the sun will reappear.
They say that the universe is cyclical, that there are always periods of light and shadow, but those cycles always pass, they come and go and you have to know that in order not to despair, to know that, if you are in the cold zone of the shadows, later the warm zone of the bright sun will come.
Travelling along paths like this one in nature makes me think about many things, also to free my mind, to let it fly, to leave it empty so that new ideas, those that come from elsewhere, can arrive. Life is cyclical as are the paths, with twists and turns, but if we keep walking we will get to the path we want.
Exploring this path in the Gibralfaro forest park, called the new world path, the name itself invited me to climb higher and higher. I discovered those dark shady areas, but also the paths full of sunshine and giving different colours to the trees. In the shadows they all look the same, but when the sun is present you can see the beauty in them.
But even in the shadows there are gaps that have allowed me to have wonderful views of other natural spaces or of the city in the distance.
Trees that embrace, trees that amaze with their shapes and colours, trees that give life in the middle of a great and wonderful journey, just as life itself is. There is no need to be afraid of the shadows, the sun is out there waiting for us to go out and see it and admire the beauty of life and nature.
