Light and shadow as I walk out into the sea.

Walks by the sea are always beautiful and incredibly relaxing; a unique connection is formed with the sounds of the sea, time stands still and only that moment exists, even though I never stop walking.

Often the sun hides away; perhaps it is shy, or perhaps it wants to show me the beauty of the landscape when the shadows touch it. Even the sea grows dark, yet takes on certain interesting hues; even the foam turned grey, perhaps it was lost in thought.

20251205_164444.jpg

But during the walk, the sun would sometimes peek out, and various colours would appear in the sky amidst the white of the clouds: a touch of yellow on the horizon, then a soft blue fading into a deep blue. However, there were always lights and shadows, due to some threatening black clouds.

There were several days like this in the run up to spring, and I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to see those lights and shadows, which, together with fine, imperceptible droplets of water, formed beautiful rainbows. It’s never a coincidence; I believe those colours were there to tell me something.

20251205_164130.jpg

20251205_164602.jpg

The message could be: even though the shadows are sometimes more prominent than the light, those shadows can create a sea of colours that brightens life. And I believe that is the case; in fact, it has been so on many occasions in my life.

20251205_164903.jpg

20251205_164748.jpg

20251205_164758.jpg

So, the walk alternated between moments when the sun revealed bright, varied colours, yet if I looked at some of the tall palm trees, they appeared black.

20251205_164923.jpg

I always say that everything depends on the perspective from which you view things; all these things have a dark side, a shadow, but they also have light, if we look at them from the opposite side. And just as it happens on walks and in nature, so it happens in life. Not everything is bad, and perhaps not everything is good. It all depends on that perspective. And I believe the important thing is to look up, towards the sky, and be able to appreciate the rainbow.

It may even be that in life, just as on walks, there are anchors that hold us fast to a place from which it seems we cannot escape, and at this moment I think of many people who are right now in the situation I was in over seven years ago. I believe that on the right day, that rainbow always comes for everyone. The anchor may seem heavy, but it is not impossible to lift.

20251205_165105.jpg

20251205_165111.jpg

When I walk, and especially near the sea, reflections come naturally, and even when I return to that place through the photographs I have taken, I relive that walk, I feel as though I am right there, and I find myself thinking and reflecting once more. Whenever I see the sea, I remember the first day I gazed out at the Mediterranean, an emotion so great it couldn’t fit in my heart.

20251205_165133.jpg

20251205_165141.jpg

During my walk, I came across a path leading out into the sea and decided to follow it, even though dark clouds were gathering. Sometimes a new path presents itself in life; it seems crazy or risky, and it’s precisely the sort of thing that appears on a grey day.

20251205_165240.jpg

20251205_165239.jpg

20251205_165229.jpg

It was quite windy and the waves were crashing against the rocks; at one point I stood still, photographing the same spot but with different waves rolling in.

20251205_165208.jpg

I turned around and saw the houses in the distance, in a landscape bathed in sunlight, whilst right in front of me there were so many clouds.

20251205_165313.jpg

20251205_165345.jpg

20251205_165349.jpg

20251205_165405.jpg

In some places the sky was clear, in others white, in others grey, but it was still the same sky. New and unknown paths bring many interesting things to see. I followed it to the end.

20251205_165410.jpg

20251205_165452.jpg

20251205_165436.jpg

On both sides there were huge rocks against which the waves crashed, splashing the path and me too. Sometimes it happens in life as well; things touch us and affect us, but following the path is our decision. Perhaps if we carry on despite everything, we might see many rainbows or dazzling landscapes like these.

When we’re in the midst of a storm, it can be scary to set out on a new path, but if it appears before us, it’s for a reason. In the end, there will always be something positive.

Thank you very much for joining me on this Wednesday walk; I send you my warmest regards. See you soon.
Amonet.

Good morning (again) @avdesing, I love today's photographs. and I love how you combine the idea of lights and shadows with life.

As you say, the darkest and most challenging moments are those that forge us and prepare us for the new thing that is to come. There is always a ray of light and a rainbow waiting for us.
Thank you for sharing such impressive images as well as for your reflections.

I wish you have a beautiful Wednesday.

My walks are always either contemplative or nostalgic, but I always take something positive away from them. Thank you!!

Your walks do not come to me as nostalgic, they come to me as reflective and interior, rather they seem to me that they always contain a message of hope for the future.

Good morning! If there is one thing I have learnt in recent years, it is that coincidences do not exist, and that there is a time beyond our own for things to come to fruition. Preserving patience and sanity seems to be our foremost mission if we are to be where we long to be. When you first gazed upon the Mediterranean, you were beholding far more than a sea — you were seeing yourself succeed, and that is why the joy was so immense.

The day I arrived here, the only word I kept repeating was: freedom – I can tell you that much.

Hello, dear friend @avdesing.

Everything you mention about walking by the sea is so true, as it's exactly what I experience on our walks along the waterfront in my city.

I can imagine how exciting it must have been to finally discover the Mediterranean coast. A dream come true.

What a lovely place you visited, and what beautiful landscapes you were able to photograph.

Excellent shots; I appreciate you sharing this walking experience.

es impresionante el contraste entre las palmeras negras y el horizonte iluminado porque nos recuerda que todo depende del angulo desde donde decidamos observar nuestra realidad

the contrast between the black palm trees and the illuminated horizon is impressive because it reminds us that everything depends on the angle from which we decide to observe our reality

Saludos!

You know what? In all these years, I haven't seen any crabs on these beaches. There were some in Argentina, but not here... I wonder if the water doesn't reach the ocean. Thanks a lot!!
