Documentary photography: American People.
There are iconic figures from the world of entertainment who will always live on in people's minds, figures from film, television, the press and art, and it was one of those figures that led me to see this exhibition when I saw the poster advertising this photography show.

I went to the exhibition because of Marilyn Monroe, but I didn't really know what to expect and, as always, I was surprised. It was a photography exhibition, but the style was documentary photography, mainly from the 1930s to the 1980s.

In the room, I found a collection of both black and white and colour photographs, although the latter were fewer in number and displayed in a way that, honestly, made it difficult for me to take photographs. In this case, it wasn't because of reflections, but because of the way each one was arranged on the walls, interspersed with the others.

This is a collection by José Luis Soler Vila, where you can find everything from portraits to street photography, such as people walking, buildings in the background, but always with an emphasis on the people. The collection includes many photographers from that period, whose names can be seen in the information available to all those who attended the exhibition, which, incidentally, was quite a lot of people.
In this way, the photographers of the time captured moments of everyday life, especially in the streets, as if their own eyes were cameras. They showed everyday life, what happened at every turn, as well as the social realities of the time, from clothing, customs, styles, and society in general. There is a lot of focus on the 1960s with your particular style.

Walking through the room and looking at each photograph, it really seemed like a silent documentary in words, but with an incredible graphic expression where one can see real life in spontaneous photographs. Many here at Hive today do street photography, and it reminded me a lot of all those creators and photographers who walk the streets of cities, towns, and countryside with their cameras capturing just that, realities.
This collection also speaks of history, of how people lived at that time, what they were like, their psychology, the atmosphere, the environment. You could appreciate people's expressions and activities, and in each photograph it was as if time had stopped to show us something special.

There were a lot of photographs, more than fifty, and each one had something to say. And to think that I went to the exhibition because of this famous actress and model and found a photographic documentary focusing on the spontaneous, the ordinary, what is sometimes not visible at first glance, life itself.
Photographs of children, adults, people working, walking, talking, smiling, children playing, photographs of shows, people dressed very well, others in everyday clothes, photographs of events, important occasions, styles of the time such as women's hairstyles, or photographs of public spaces. Everything was present in this exhibition, everything that happened in public spaces.

It was very pleasant to find and appreciate each of these images with such varied points of view. Of course, on leaving the Thyssen Museum, in the shop, there were products, especially art books, related to what we had seen. They are always attentive to every detail.
Thank you very much for joining me today, I wish you a very good Sunday. See you soon.

Good morning, dear friend @avdesing
I love these photo exhibitions that show us the everyday life of the time.
Beautiful photographs, I appreciate you sharing this visit experience.
Have a wonderful Sunday!
Thank you to you Luis!!! wonderful Sunday!🤗
Good morning @avdesing. I share your opinion that in these photographs the photographers have managed to capture moments that portray a life or way of living. Since the post caught my attention, I've been looking at the work of some of the photographers you feature and I've discovered that two of them have a particularly interesting body of work (in my opinion): Harry Callahan and Robert Frank.
What I find incredible, though, is that despite the passage of time, Marilyn Monroe remains a true icon of popular culture.
Thank you so much for this overview.
Happy Sunday!!
To think that I went to the exhibition because of her and was pleasantly surprised. There was so much to see, marking an era, with excellent photographers and their work. Thank you very much!Happy Sunday!!

Thank you!!!🤗

I also thought of seeing it as many documents within a single document, chronicling life during that period. From the streets to more intimate spaces, so to speak, cultural events, even sporting ones, if I’m not mistaken. An impressive collection of images, without a doubt. Thank you for bringing this wonderful exhibition to Hive, allowing us to admire it from the comfort of our homes. Un gran abrazo and wishing you a lovely start to the week.
And you're right, next door there was another photography exhibition hall, also very large, displaying themes of shows, parties, and nightlife in the US. Another style, another era. I'll bring it along! Thank you very much!
