Celebrating the Worldmappin award on the New World trail 📷 Malaga - Spain

I didn't expect to win the prize and it filled me with immense joy and for that there is nothing better than to celebrate it by hiking.

When I heard the news that I had won the sweatshirt in the Worldmappin winter competition I couldn't believe it, I was going to have something from Hive. I had always kept my identity to myself and had made up my mind that for that reason I wouldn't have anything with the Hive logo on it. But the universe proved me wrong and I am happy.

So I had to combine this great satisfaction with something I am passionate about, which is nature and walking, and of course also art. That's why I asked someone to take pictures of me, not too close, with the sweatshirt. You will see it at the end, be patient.

Because first I had to celebrate it alone. They say that big dreams should not be talked about until they come true, and that's why I decided to do this hike.

The trail is called Mundo Nuevo and is a path that you find before you reach the Gibralfaro forest park. The path, after a long walk with many gentle slopes and zigzagging movements, leads to the castle gate, but along one of the sides of the castle. It is very close to the path that leads to the viewpoint of the coast, which I have already described on another occasion.

The walk starts where the Plaza de La Merced ends, where there is a ramp which is actually a street and overlooks the walls of the Alcazaba castle. They are beautiful views, although the sun was in my face and it was difficult to take pictures. A cloudless, clear and beautiful sky for this journey.

I set off on my way after passing a fence that is set up to prevent cars from going up. Immediately I began to see great vegetation and beautiful colours that look more like autumn than winter.

During the whole route, which was a zigzagging and winding one, I was accompanied by trees of various species. But what most attracted my attention was that almost all of them were leaning over the path, especially those on the right side where I was walking.

Underneath the trees there was a bright green that the sun shone brightly, but as I went on there was more and more vegetation, which made it colder because the sun did not reach it with its rays.

The hills of earth and stone were to my right and above them columns of giant trees. They looked like a natural wall of the castle and the sun, trying to get through the branches, usually didn't succeed.

In other areas there was a slope in the terrain and there was a lot of vegetation, different greens and very well lit. When the sun was shining you could feel the warmth and when it entered darker areas the cold was felt.

On the same route there seemed to be different landscapes between light and shadow, depending on the direction of the road.

At other times I would look down and see the wonders of nature, at other times I would look to the side and see dirt back roads.

Another thing that amazed me most about this hike was the views of the city. The trail had railings every now and then to stop and take pictures. I enjoyed taking them through the trees and playing with the sunlight. Every day I love photography more and more.

As I climbed, and the truth is I didn't even know how far I had climbed or how far I had to go to reach the entrance of the castle, I had different views and the landscape was changing as the sun went lower and lower.

Sometimes the sun was behind me and sometimes in front of me, it seemed like I was walking in circles, but I never strayed from the path, I didn't want to get lost in the vegetation.

The panoramic views of the city were incredible and depending on which side of the mountain, because the Gibralfaro castle is on a not very high mountain, the views of different parts of the city changed.

The land changed between dark brown and yellow depending on whether the sun was shining on it or not.

I didn't miss the opportunity to take pictures of the distance, the horizon, the buildings, the nature, everything. As I always say, I also looked back on the road from time to time and so I had a different landscape every time. Pure beauty.

As I climbed higher and higher there was less and less light, more and more cold and much more shadow, as if it was already dark in parts of the route. The thick vegetation was very noticeable.

After some time walking I came across a children's park, where there were rustic wooden games. I don't know if parents bring their children there, but it was deserted.

I continued uphill and when I was higher up, the sun appeared again, casting long shadows on the trees and on me. I had been walking for quite a while, almost two hours I think.

The views of the city were becoming more and more beautiful, or so it seemed to me, and the nature was becoming more and more amazing. It was constant at this point that the path was completely zigzagging, there were hardly any straight paths any more, and that caught my attention.

At a certain point the thick vegetation deepened and in the distance I saw a monument indicating that the entrance to the castle was close by. I also saw a sign indicating the forest park. This was the end of the Mundo Nuevo trail and I was delighted to walk along it.

Now I have received my prize for the community contest and when I opened the box I was very happy. The colour of the sweatshirt is gorgeous, a beautiful bright electric blue and also several stickers to stick on, I love it, I really love it. Thanks for millions to the community, to @detlev and @lizanomadsoul, who I contacted to get this great package to my hands and now this sweatshirt will be my companion on my rides.
