Cactus trails and the butterfly oasis 📷 Malaga – Spain
Some places transport us, allowing us to imagine that we are in another world, a dream world, a world of beautiful species, a world of butterflies.
When I visit a natural space for the first time, that's what happens to me. I feel that it's not just the earth, but that there's something special, perhaps it's that contact with nature, being able to hear the sounds it makes, see its colours and smell its aromas. I always tell people that I love touching plants, trees and flowers, it's something special for me, like a unique transmission of energy.
Several years ago, I visited this place, actually a nearby one, not this one specifically, and it was undergoing renovations, adding species, signs, renovations to the levels, stairs, paths. And when I saw it again after more than three years, it seemed like a totally different place. Malaga is a city that is always on the move, which I love. It's impossible for anyone to get bored here.
I had never visited this area before, and the surprise and positive impact were huge. The path, or rather the paths that awaited me, belonged to a world of succulents, cacti, flowers and butterflies. It is located within the botanical garden complex of the city's university, a space specially designed to house many species from many parts of the world.

I am no expert on cactus or succulent species, but I love to admire the beauty with which nature always surprises me. It would be spectacular to live in the midst of it.
This space is designed on different levels, with paths that reach the end of a route, turn and create a new path, and sub-paths that intertwine and can be accessed by ramps or stone stairs. I don't know if you feel the same when you see the photographs, but it seemed to me that the whole area had a yellow tint, as if it were a world with that hue.
At the highest point, the place was connected to some stairs that led to areas of the university, through gates filled with beautiful orange and yellow flowers, which were perhaps responsible for giving that hue to the entire succulent area. It was enigmatic and wonderful.
On either side of the paths, I could see different species, many of which had signs, or rather were divided into areas with inscriptions. I devoted myself to enjoying the varied shapes, heights, colours and strange figures of these cacti. No two were alike, and they were all wonderful.
Sometimes I found one that had flowers, and as you know, the flowers of these plants do not last long, but they are wonderful. I think their beauty is short-lived for those who know how to see it. It reminded me a lot of my garden in Argentina. As the soil in my garden was not good, I could only have certain types of plants, and cacti were perfect. I celebrated every time there was a flower because it was wonderful.

Some were huge, like big trees, others were small and crawled along the ground, some were leafy with many branches, and others were much simpler, with thin lines that seemed to reach for the sky. There were incredible varieties, some seemed to have hair, I suppose they were the wisest of the cactus community.
I loved walking along each of these paths, and above all, being able to see the flowers that I occasionally spotted. I also loved the fact that this large garden of succulents and cacti was so well maintained, with no weeds and clean paths. The people who take care of this place are always there, keeping an eye on things.
At one point, I arrived at a very special place, the last one, the butterfly oasis, and I didn't know what to expect. I kept walking and realised that it was a space with small and large flowers of all colours where butterflies were flying.
Unfortunately, I couldn't capture any of them in my photographs, but I did see huge butterflies, especially monarchs. I love butterflies, and I found it to be a special and magical place to walk and explore. A wonderful world, a spectacular journey that I loved to take.
It was great to visit this place and fill myself with the magic that was in the air. Thank you very much for joining me today. Best regards. See you soon.

Hello @avdesing, I love cacti and I loved this tour. Around here, the cacti bloomed a while ago, so I'm glad to see some flowers again. It's a shame you couldn't photograph any butterflies. Thank you for this wonderful tour.
Best regards,
Just then there were some very large ones, but not many... better enjoy the moment... thank you!

What an unusual and beautiful garden. It looks very prickly. Muy espinoso :)
It's very thorny!!!🤣
A real beauty all those captus and the truth is always good to see all those species together there are those who say that having one on your computer desk makes your eyes rest while using it, what a great place.
I didn't know that, but what a great idea! Thank you!
Well it's up to you to do some research, there are those who say it works and there are those who say it's useless, but I have a small one near me and it doesn't really bother me, I have it just in case 🤣🤣.
Just in case... it might work.😂
Good afternoon, Amonet, how are you?
How beautiful your city is. Now Málaga is one of those places I want to visit.
This place is charming. I really like nature, the capctus, but the best thing is that the plants are marked with their names.
You can't imagine how I would love to have such a beautiful place here in the city where I live.
Beautiful photographs.
Have a beautiful afternoon.
I'm sure you'd love it, it's a beautiful place, thank you!

Hello @avdesing! There is nothing like nature; it helps us connect with ourselves if we allow it! Beautiful photos; it's a shame you couldn't capture the butterflies.
Every day I connect with her more and more, especially in lonely places!!! Yes... next time I'll be ready to wait and wait and capture them! Thank you!
