A stroll among drawings and bronze figures, surrounded by art.

There are walks that are inspiring, those in which you really think, feel it was worth it and enjoy yourself immensely, not only because of the beautiful things you see but also because they are instructive and leave you with the feeling of having gained more knowledge and made the most of your time doing something you really enjoy.

I consider walks in nature to be healing and reflective, but walks surrounded by art are enriching for me because they give me so much, especially ways of seeing art and knowledge about other artists that I may not have known or knew very little about.

That's why my walks often take me to familiar places, places where I know there will be art exhibitions, which are usually truly spectacular, like the one I'm bringing you today.

In the city centre, there are many art galleries, some of which are public, meaning they belong to or are run by public bodies, and allow you to take photographs freely, while others do not. However, the city's Chamber of Commerce is a beautiful place where you can always enter for free and enjoy some very good exhibitions at no cost. Art and culture are something that the city considers essential.

The artist featured in this great exhibition is Elena Laverón, whose works I had seen many times on my walks around the city, because her sculptures can be found in parks, squares and public places and are large, colossal in size. But I never knew who the artist behind these works was.

Of course, she has her own style, but I have noticed that the expression of the faces is essential, as something that conveys emotions, sensations and feelings. I think this is because it is what produces gestures in us and the face is what we show to the world.

20250527_182441.jpg

It is true that body language says a lot, and I believe that it is above all these gestures and facial expressions that reveal the most about people. And this is a feature that I saw not only in the busts made by the artist but also in the full-length sculptures.

20250527_182028.jpg

I also noticed that all his sculptures have movement, that is, they depict people performing an action, such as a sport or dance, although there are also some in a resting position. They are all admirable and all worth seeing from different angles.

Most of the sculptures are in bronze, but other materials are also involved.

On the walls of the large exhibition hall were quotes, both from the sculptor herself and from people who have commented on her work.

As I read these quotes, which were in two languages, I thought about learning to draw, where, when I learned this so many years ago, I was taught to see the human figure as a set of geometric shapes, the union of which then created the complete figure. When I take these walks in museums, I always go back to my student days and to the present, where I have returned to oil painting, especially faces, of course with a different style. Every artist has something that defines them.

Not only were there huge sculptures in the room, although not as huge as those distributed throughout the city, but there were also display cases with smaller works and books by the artist. Above all, I liked the small sculptures; it takes a lot of work to create something like this in a small format with all these details.

On the other hand, the sketches and drawings made by the artist are a preview of the quality of her works. Seeing the steps of the artistic process made the art exhibition complete, because you could appreciate the beginnings, the first strokes of each sculpture. As the artist herself mentions in the phrases that were on display there, this whole process is very complex, it takes a lot of time and dedication.

In one corner of the room, there was also a large map showing all the artist's sculptures distributed throughout the urban landscape, not only in Malaga but also in the area known as the Costa del Sol.

This exhibition has been wonderful, above all because not only have I been able to see Elena Laverón's marvellous creations, but on many of my walks I can see how the city, nature and the environment intermingle with her sculptures, which I find amazing.

Thank you very much for accompanying me on this Wednesday walk. Best regards. See you soon.

Hi @avdesing, I took some time out to wander around Hive and came across this ride that I had been looking forward to for a while. The work of Elena Laverón I can say that I like it. If I'm not mistaken you already introduced her to us before and announced more works by her (that's why I say I was waiting for this post). This time I was very interested in the relationship between dreams and the work. More because there are publications of mine that have also been born from dreams (I already advance) as the one of tomorrow.

I do not want to extend more: Thank you for sharing your passion for art and for showing us the work of this excellent artist.

A big hug.

PS.

That set of three last figures in the last photo, I love it.

It was a beautiful exhibition. Do you know where that last giant three-piece work is? In the western park, my favourite city park! Thank you very much!🤗

I'll answer your question honestly: I didn't know where that work was 😂. Thank you very much @avdesign, it's a pleasure to stroll through your publications. 🤗

The main reason I do not make it to museums is my walks and generally early morning while my wife is sleeping :)

It's true that at that time... there are no museums open, but it would still be interesting to see the museums there... sometime. I'd love to!

That's very nice how they put up the process images in the exhibition. It shows that sometimes all you need is a simple sketch to solidify the idea in the mind.

Exactly! And I could see the origin of the sculptures; the process is the most important thing!

Elena’s work is beautiful, and I found myself reflecting on her remark about geometry in sculpture. She says she uses it to give form, but I see that she also uses it to create poetry.
I like sculptures that look like they are practising sports.

👋 Thank you, nice walk!
