A stroll along Muelle Uno 📷 Malaga - Spain
One of the busiest and tourist must-see places in the city of Malaga is the Muelle Uno.
It is a large open-air shopping centre in addition to the pier that forms part of the city's port. The large number of shops of all kinds plus the enormous amount of gastronomic variety offered by the restaurants that are in the place, make it the most visited place at all times of the year.
Being so close to the city centre, the number of tourists visiting Pier One is impressive.
Close to Quay One you will find the Pompidou Museum, the Promenade de la Farola, the Farola itself at the end of the promenade. Also the city park.
If we go back in history, the quay was built in the 16th century during the reign of King Philip II, but for a long time it has undergone many modifications, extensions and restructurings.
Two centuries later, the walls that separated the port from the city were demolished and it was then that trade and traffic with America began.
Over the course of time, everything around it was built, such as the Palmeral de las Sorpresas, and, as I said before, the Paseo de la Farola, among other things.
It was not until the 21st century that the decision was taken to convert the pier into a large open-air shopping centre, where we can find shops of renowned brands such as Primor, Lacoste and also a wide variety of food shops with an incredible variety of food styles.
Of course there are also fast food places like 100 Montaditos, a classic here in the city and the famous Burger King.
An important detail is that this pier has an underground car park with more than 1000 parking spaces.
The constructions made around it are very modern, for example, the Muse Pompidou was created in 2015, when the pier itself was inaugurated in 2011 with all the modifications that were made to it since the day the first stone was thrown into the sea in 1588.
I myself have seen the latest refurbishment carried out in 2021. I arrived in this city in 2018 and I have been able to see the restructuring that was carried out to convert the quay into an area where a lot of luxury boats and yachts are housed.
It was a big job that took a long time but it was worth it. And now we can appreciate the beauty of several mega yachts that stay there, sometimes for several days.
In addition to these yachts we can find a variety of boats offering tours of the harbour, the quayside and the Mediterranean Sea. Prices vary depending on the time of day you decide to take the trip. Those at sunset are a little more expensive. Prices range between 10 and 15 euros for an hour's ride.
Along the route you can also see a stretch of lake where there are several stalls from the street market of the same name. Clothes, handicrafts, costume jewellery and many other products can be seen by tourists and locals alike.
All the stalls are very well arranged and beautiful for this great place, where you can make a wide variety of purchases.
The market is located right in front of the clothing shops, ice-cream parlours, Primor, among others.
It is possible to access the Paseo de la Farola from Muelle Uno via the many stairs and lifts along the entire route.
After the flea market we find an emblematic place which is the Capilla del Puerto (Chapel of the Port). At first it was a simple oratory to venerate the Virgin of the Sea, around 1530. But then the works progressed and the oratory became a small chapel around 1725.
It consists of two floors where the chaplain lived on the upper floor and has an area of 8x8 m2.
In the 70s of the 20th century it was moved piece by piece to this area, where it currently resides.
A simple architectural beauty that gives antiquity to such a modern place.
Following the path we find on one side the great variety of restaurants and on the other side the views of the Mediterranean Sea with the beautiful yachts and boats that dock at the quay.
This path ends at the Farola with its beautiful view. And also a view of the city's harbour.
Going up the ramp that leads to the Paseo de la Farola, Paseo de Levante and La Malagueta beach we can have an overview of what the Muelle Uno and the views to the city centre.
It is a beautiful promenade full of beautiful landscapes, but at the same time of great tourist attraction. The night walks around the place are also worthwhile, they are magical.
Thank you for joining me on this walk. Best regards to all of you and see you next time.

Thank you!!
Hi, a walk of those I don't usually do when I travel, I usually avoid the tourist sites. But doing it this way, sitting down is nice. The work they did seems huge, but as in other European cities, like Madrid, it seems to me that these modernities are taking away personality to the sites and turn them into a kind of theme park for tourists, with the same stores, the same clothes, the same shop windows,.... My thing, I guess it's the age. A big hug and thank you for the walk and for the magnificent photographs.
I just took that walk the day of Andalucia, but I love that place, it's beautiful and I often go there accompanied or alone, but it fascinates me, it's magical. I love the boats!
Thank you very much @enraizar 🤗
You have eyes that see things I don't see, that's why I like reading you. Best regards @avdesign
The real eyes are not the physical ones, but I think you know that.... I learned to look with those other eyes and it's great!
Total beauty, looks like a movie, I am in awe of all those places you always share.
The place is beautiful and even more so at night, when you can see the lights of the city. Thank you Anthony!🤗
Beautiful place, but how come people are wearing coats? I think you can spot the Canadian tourists because they're only wearing shirts :)
It's winter here, but English tourists hardly wear coats, for them it's warm.😄
😄
🤣
beautiful dock also the stalls give it a more special air the sea and the yachts are splendid.
It is a very nice place to walk and have beautiful views. Thank you very much Monica!😃
Good afternoon dear friend @avdesing
What a beautiful walk along the coast of the city, the place is beautiful and there is a lot to see. What a great idea to be able to access the boats and be able to take a sea tour. That sounds great.
Beautiful photographs, I appreciate all the information about the story and the excellent shots

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Your walk, filled with architectural beauty, historical insights, and the allure of the Mediterranean, makes Muelle Uno a must-visit destination. Thank you for sharing your experience, and I look forward to more virtual walks through your lens!
It really is a beautiful place and a nice walk by the sea with those amazing boats. Thank you very much @silviared945 ❤️
me gusta ese paseo. Luego ir a la playa para que las chinas me den masaje toda la tarde. 😆
Y bueno si te gusta? A mi no gracias ... las chinas no! jajaja
