A mysterious and unsettling night-time tour - Walk Juan Temboury – 11th century 📷 Malaga – Spain
Many places during the day display beautiful monumental structures that demonstrate strength and power, while at night and with the right lighting they can become truly eerie or mysterious places to walk around.
One of the ways to climb to the highest castle in the city is a place or path chosen by many people, including tourists and locals, to go for walks and admire the views of the city, which are wonderful at different times of the day, whether at dawn, midday or dusk. But some also choose this place for night-time walks. So I decided to explore the nocturnal mystery on this path full of rocks that speak of past stories at night.
The climb has some steep parts and others that are flatter, but the important thing is the different feeling of doing this route at night, with lights that illuminate the walls of the fortress quite well, but at the same time give you the creeps in the darkest parts, and yes, I have walked them. Not only that, but below this path, where the so-called gardens of the dark gate are located, the plants, trees and flowers are in complete darkness. Only the paths are lit, and in some sections, especially where they bend, the shadows are pronounced.
This path is called Walk de Juan Temboury and, although there are lights at the beginning, as you will see, the end of it cannot be seen and complete darkness reigns on the right-hand side.
It is ideal for horror stories or ghost stories that are often told, especially in ancient castles, where so many people have died in wars and battles against invaders. But I assure you that I did not see any ghosts along the way, although I did feel the mysterious and suspenseful atmosphere, where I could only hear my footsteps. I rarely came across anyone walking around the place, although there were some, but not as many as during the day.
The high illuminated walls gave it a spectral air, of an ancient history full of powerful experiences hidden in those rocks piled on top of each other, which have seen so many battles, ships approaching, enemy ships. I enjoyed walking around the place thinking and imagining those ancient stories.
The lighting alternated between white and warmer tones on those strong walls that stand imposingly, defending the culture, architecture and history of other times, times far removed from the 11th century to the present day. A beautiful fortification that can be appreciated in a different way at night. Its walls blend in with the vegetation of the place and not only generate that mystery, but also an attraction for so much beauty revealed by those lights on the stones.
On the other hand, the views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea are hidden in the shadows, except for the lights generated by the buildings themselves. The city at night is beautiful, with a totally different style than when we can see it during the day.
From that promenade or path, I could see, climbing higher and higher, the city, the buildings, the lights among the pine trees. I had to look for gaps between them to be able to see those views and their lights, although you cannot see the sea.
From there, the streetlight seemed further away than usual, and the buildings and gardens were decked out in beautiful warm lights.
My journey oscillated between looking at the illuminated walls and their height, plus the details that seemed sinister, and the views of the city, its streets, and the lives of the people down below. The full moon added even more mystery and beauty to the place and accompanied me throughout my exploration and walk.
Some areas were darker than others, and when I looked up, it seemed as if at any moment a ghost of a soldier guarding the fortress might appear. I felt as if I could go back in history and see it with my own eyes.
At the end of this walk, it was much darker, much more gloomy. I could no longer see my shadow reflected on the ground, created by the artificial lights, and everything was more eerie.
A tunnel invited me to follow it. It was lit, but I preferred to continue and finish the tour, where, as I turned down that path, the lights disappeared, giving way to stairs hidden in the shadows.
At that moment, I thought about going back, but with a torch, not because of the fear that the place might cause in the dark, but because of the risk of climbing slippery stairs in the middle of the night. But I thought about that idea, it's interesting.
I love exploring the corners of the city during the day, but night-time walks, which I haven't done for so long, arouse a particular interest in me. This has been a walk that transports you to another era and it is wonderful.
Thank you very much for joining me today. Best regards. See you soon.

the last time i did a night walk with camera i got stopped by a police car , they were wondering if i was scouting the area for a break in 😂😂.
The old city / defense walls look nice the differend textures and use of stone might look good in b/w .
!BBH
Luckily, the police didn't stop me! There are lots of people out walking, even at 2 in the morning...
You've given me ideas, lots of ideas! Thank you!🤗
Hello @avdesing... great night walk along the Paseo de Juan Temboury. As you say, at night the landscape looks more mysterious. I don't know if you imagined those ghosts from the past or if you actually saw any. The photographs are magnificent.
Have a great day. Hugs.
With my human eyes, I haven't seen anything, but... I sense strange things. It was a great walk, I have to climb those scary stairs! Thank you!
If you feel it, it's because there are other eyes seeing something... I liked this tour... and I'm sure I'll like the one on the stairs at night...
When there are fewer people, it will be even more interesting!🤣
How are you, dear friend @avdesing?
You are very brave to visit this beautiful place at night. I have no doubt you sensed the mystery and suspense as you walked.
What beautiful shots you took. I love how the city looks at night.
Enjoy a beautiful evening.
Beyond the mystery is a beautiful place, ideal for a great walk. Thank you very much!😃

Hello Amonet
What a beautiful walk, full of emotions. I can only imagine what you must have felt walking there at night.
Beautiful photographs.
Have a beautiful evening.
It was an exciting and beautiful walk. It had been a while since I'd been on a night walk, thank you!
The way you described this night time walk was both eerie and enchanting. I could almost feel the chill of the shadows and the quiet weight of history in every stone.
It was a spectacular ride, although I didn't see anything unusual. It felt chilling but also great at the same time. Thank you very much!
You're welcome! I’m happy to hear you had a great time!🤗
A big hug!🤗
Hugs to you my friend!🤗

Completely agree, some places are charming by day and with striking structures, but at night they look gloomy, no doubt, that is the ideal place to shoot a horror movie. The mysteries of darkness, playing with light and shadow.
I am fascinated by everything to do with the castle and had never been there at night before. It really is ideal! Thank goodness I didn't encounter any ghosts! Thank you very much!
It was the ghosts' day off 😂.
Menos mal... sino salía corriendo!🤣
I imagine that walking at night through those places, thinking about all those things you think about while you walk, must have a special charm... however, I have to tell you that over there, with all the lights I see, it looks like daytime... hahaha... you wouldn't want to see what darkness is like over here hahaha.
Malaga at night sounds like a completely different world compared to the daytime, but even so, I am sure it's mesmerising! ✨
It is! I find it fascinating to explore different areas and always discover something new, plus the city is constantly changing. Thank you very much!🤗
The pleasure was all mine! Have a nice day 🤗🤗

This would make a perfect location for a film, perhaps it has already been made, but it is certainly a magnificent place with great architecture and a perfect place to visit.
I thought the same thing, a film here would have been great, maybe a thriller or a mafia film, I don't know, but it's spectacular. Thank you very much!🤗

🌙✨ Such a fascinating walk, I loved how you described the nighttime atmosphere full of mystery and beauty. It felt as if I were walking along with you by those illuminated walls. Thank you for sharing such a special experience! 🙌
It was a wonderful experience and very beautiful. I love night walks. Thank you very much!🤗
De nada.
🤗🤗
Such a great way to see the city in a completely different light. The photos and your descriptions make it feel both eerie and magical.”
Thank you so much!!🤗
It's wonderful how familiar places transform at night. The variation of light and darkness brings out features that are not so clear during the day like the sharp angular geometry of the castle walls. Then you have that magnificent moon surrounded by stars, and it seems like a place of fairy tales.
I want to believe that there was a lot of magic in the place with that beautiful moon, thank you!
Beautiful place and lovely photos. These monuments are impressive.
Thank you so much!!!🤗
