Walk through Guatavita, Colombia (EN-ES)
Greetings, my dear friends. I hope you are doing very well, with health and well-being and that this week will be one of success and blessings for all of you.
Today, I want to share with you my trip to Guatavita, a tourist town that we visited a few days ago and we were ecstatic for its fabulous landscapes and architectural beauty. Guatavita is considered a white town because it preserves its colonial architecture, so much is the desire to maintain this style that the new houses built have been coupled, following this type of construction of red tiles and white walls.
In Guatavita was born the legend of El Dorado that tells that when a new cacique took power, his mandate began with a ceremony in the Guatavita lagoon. see more.
Upon arriving at this beautiful town in the Cundinamarca-Boyacá savannah, I was overcome with great emotion and my spirit rejoiced because our song Alma Llanera was playing, and because of all the beauty that my eyes could see.

Hoy, quiero compartir con ustedes mi paseo a Guatavita, pueblo turístico que visitamos hace unos días y que recorrimos extasiados por su sus fabulosos paisajes y belleza arquitectónica. Guatavita es considerado un pueblo blanco porque conserva su arquitectura colonial, tanto es el deseo de mantener este estilo que las nuevas casas construidas se han acoplado, siguiendo este tipo de construcciones de tejas rojas y paredes blancas.
En Guatavita nació la leyenda de El Dorado que cuenta que cuando un nuevo cacique se alzaba con el poder, su mandato comenzaba con una ceremonia en la laguna de Guatavita ver más.
Al llegar a este hermoso pueblo de la sabana cundiboyacense, me embargó una gran emoción y mi espíritu se regocijó porque sonaba nuestra canción Alma Llanera, y por toda la belleza que veían mis ojos.
Walking through its brick streets I fell in love with Guatavita. The views are spectacular and from the highest part of the town you can see the Tominé reservoir.
We continued walking through these streets where we found beautiful spaces to take pictures and keep a souvenir of this visit.
Caminando por sus calles de ladrillos me enamoré de Guatavita. Las vistas son espectaculares y desde la parte más alta del pueblo se puede ver el embalse de Tominé.
Seguimos recorriendo estas calles en las que encontramos espacios hermosos para tomarnos fotos y guardar un recuerdo de esta visita.

To get to know the town you have to go down until you reach the central part where the square, the handicraft market and the church are located. On the way we find paths with arches like passages of a white labyrinth.
Para conocer el pueblo hay que ir bajando hasta llegar a la parte central donde está la plaza, el mercado de artesanías y la iglesia. En el camino encontramos veredas con arcos como pasadizos de un blanco laberinto.

The day of our tour, Guatavita had a different climate than what we had been told, and I even went dressed warmly because I was told that it was very cold. However, we were surprised by a divine weather with a lovely light. The town was bathed by an intense and radiant sun, but it was cool, ideal for me who loves the sun, but not the heat.
El día de nuestro paseo, Guatavita tenía un clima diferente al que nos habían comentado, incluso me fui bien abrigada porque me dijeron que hacía mucho frío. Sin embargo, nos sorprendió un clima divino y con una luz encantadora. El pueblo estaba bañado por un sol intenso y radiante, pero estaba fresco, ideal para mí que amo el sol, pero no el calor.

We continued descending and we could see the Tominé reservoir closer. Before continuing on we stopped at an ice cream shop that offered handmade ice cream. We tried several flavors, including blackberry, piña colada, whisky cream and coconut lemonade.
All delicious!
Seguimos bajando y ya veíamos más cerca el embalse de Tominé. Antes de seguir nos detuvimos en una heladería que ofrecía helados artesanales. Probamos varios sabores, entre ellos, de mora, piña colada, crema de whisky y limonada de coco.

We reached the reservoir and were amazed by the view. A spectacular landscape appeared in front of us to delight us and, there, we took the opportunity to be grateful for the opportunity to enjoy it together, as a family.
We had not yet reached the Guatavita lagoon where the legend of El Dorado was born, but the time to return was hurrying us, so we said goodbye, happy and rejoiced, of this beautiful town with the promise of returning soon to know much more of its goodness and beauty.
Here, I share with you these photographs so that you can appreciate and enjoy a unique destination that, if you have the opportunity to visit Colombia, you cannot miss. It is a place where the connection with nature is deeply felt in every corner, while Colombian traditions are alive in every detail and space of the town. An ideal place to disconnect from the daily hustle and bustle and immerse ourselves in the cultural and natural richness of this beautiful country.
Llegamos hasta el embalse y la vista nos maravilló. Un paisaje espectacular aparecía frente a nosotros para deleitarnos y, ahí, aprovechamos para agradecer la oportunidad de poder disfrutarlo juntos, en familia.
Nos faltó llegar a la laguna de Guatavita donde nació, propiamente, la leyenda de El Dorado, pero la hora del regreso nos ponía prisa, así que nos despedimos, felices y regocijados, de este hermoso pueblo con la promesa de volver pronto para conocer mucho más de sus bondades y bellezas.
Aquí, les comparto estas fotografías para que puedan apreciar y disfrutar de un destino único que, si tienen la oportunidad de visitar Colombia, no pueden dejar de conocer. Es un lugar en el que la conexión con la naturaleza se siente profundamente en cada rincón, mientras que las tradiciones colombianas están vivas en cada detalle y espacio del pueblo. Un espacio ideal para desconectarnos del ajetreo diario y sumergirnos en la riqueza cultural y natural de este hermoso país.
