Must-have winter outfits (EN-ES)

I hope you are all very well and that this weekend is one of rest and wellness to recharge your energies.

Today, I want to share with you a garment that has become an essential piece in my closet because it gives me protection and shelter from the low temperatures that occur in Bogota, it is the poncho.

Since I arrived in this country about a year and a half ago, I have noticed that it rains here much more than I had ever experienced in my life. However, I have seen that rain does not stop the city nor is it an excuse to stay at home. So it is necessary to dress appropriately and dress warmly to go out and continue with our activities, even if it is raining.

In the last two months, the days were cool, it hardly rained, there were even days with so much sun that I could compare them with those of my homeland, but that's over now, because winter has arrived and it has made itself felt intensely. There have been torrential downpours and even hail.

Because of this, I had to take my ponchos out of my closet to keep them handy because with them I am much more protected from the cold.

Because low temperatures affect me a lot, I wear several layers of clothing to keep my upper body warm. As a first layer, I wear a long sleeve sweater that can be flannel, then a knitted sweater as a second layer to keep me a bit warmer. And finally, I complement my winter outfit with a jacket or a poncho to make sure I am well protected.

Ponchos are rectangular shaped coats that are made of thick fabrics, have an opening in the middle, through which we pass the head and falls along the arms, covering the whole part of the chest and back.

Ponchos are garments widely used in Bogota, as well as ruanas, however, they are different from each other. The ruanas are open in the middle, which allows us to cover ourselves with them around the neck, and as you can see in the pictures, the ponchos are complete, they only have the opening to introduce the head.

I have two ponchos to keep me warm on cold days. One was given to me by my daughter and the other was given to me by my husband. The gray one with white borders is made of fleece fabric that protects quite a bit, it has a high collar and two buttons as a decorative detail. The other poncho is knitted, with black, white and red wine colored threads, it has a loose collar, what I know as bobo collar, it also has tassels all around the edge, which gives it movement and I love this detail.

For me, they are part of my outfit during winter days, I feel warm and with a special style. For this reason, you will see me often with them because the cold is freezing cold.

Hoy, quiero compartir con ustedes una prenda que se ha convertido en una pieza imprescindible en mi clóset porque me brinda protección y abrigo ante las bajas temperaturas que se dan en Bogotá, se trata de los ponchos.

Desde que llegué a este país hace aproximadamente un año y medio, he notado que aquí llueve mucho más de lo que había experimentado en toda mi vida. Sin embargo, he visto que la lluvia no detiene la ciudad ni es excusa para quedarse en casa. Así que es necesario vestirse adecuadamente y abrigarse muy bien para salir y continuar con nuestras actividades, aunque esté lloviendo.

En los dos últimos meses, los días estuvieron frescos, casi no llovió, incluso hubo días de tanto sol que pude compararlos con los de mi tierra, pero ya eso se acabó, pues el invierno llegó y vaya que se ha hecho sentir intensamente. Han caído torrenciales aguaceros y hasta ha granizado.

Por esto, tuve que sacar los ponchos de mi clóset para tenerlos a mano porque con ellos me protejo, mucho más, del frío.

Debido a que las bajas temperaturas me afectan bastante, uso varias capas de ropa para mantenerme abrigada en la parte superior del cuerpo. Como primera capa, me pongo un suéter manga larga que puede ser de tela de franela, luego un suéter tejido como segunda capa para que me haga sentir un poco de calor. Y, finalmente, complemento mi outfit de invierno con una chaqueta o con un poncho para asegurarme de estar bien protegida.

Los ponchos son abrigos en forma rectangular que están hechos de telas gruesas, tienen una abertura en el medio, por la cual pasamos la cabeza y cae a lo largo de los brazos, cubriéndonos toda la parte del pecho y la espalda.

Los ponchos son prendas muy usadas en Bogotá, al igual que las ruanas, sin embargo, guardan diferencias entre sí. Pues las ruanas son abiertas por todo el medio, lo cual permite cubrirnos con ellas alrededor del cuello, y como ven en las fotografías, los ponchos son completos, sólo tienen la abertura para introducir la cabeza.

Tengo dos ponchos para abrigarme durante los días fríos. Uno me lo regaló mi hija y el otro me lo regaló mi esposo. El gris con bordes blancos es de tela polar que protege bastante, es de cuello alto y tiene dos botones como detalle decorativo. El otro poncho es tejido, de hilos de colores negro, blanco y vino tinto, es de cuello suelto, lo que conozco como cuello bobo, además tiene borlas por todo el borde, lo cual le aporta movimiento y me encanta este detalle.

Para mí, son parte de mi atuendo durante los días de invierno, me siento bien abrigada y con un estilo especial. Por esto, ya me verán a menudo con ellos porque el frío está que hiela los huesos.
